Finally at the beach,
The train wasn't as bad as it sounds... we were in a 'hard sleeper' room which had 6 berths, 3 on each side, the berths were almost like bunk beds, stacked up on the walls. We were on the bottom, which is by far the best, I've heard stories of people being on the top and having a few rats joining them on their trip. Our train left at 5pm so after a few hours it was totally dark and we didn't get to make the most of the view which is a shame!!
We haven't really done much here... mainly just relax and recover from being in Ho Chi Minh City.
The beach is lovely and we seem to be the only tourists about, so we get stared at a fair amount. Although there isn't a great deal going on in Nha Trang.
I found out about an Aquarium/research centre online so we thought we would go take a look. It was terrible. There were some beautiful fish and other weird and wonderful things but what made it so terrible was the animal/fishes living area... for example, they had two of the most adorable seals I had ever seen, they were kept in a room that was about 7x11ft, and there was an area no bigger than a bath tub which was full of water that they didn't seem to move from, they definitely didn't seem to be enjoying their time there either! It wasn't nice to see. They also seem to keep all the fish and sharks outside in dirty tanks. We then wondered into the 'research' building. The only way I can describe it is, it was like we had walking into a crazy scientist's lab... there were rows and rows and rows of dead fish, crabs, sea horses, etc. in jars on shelves reaching up to the ceiling... was pretty weird.
Tomorrow we are getting another train, this time 10 hours, to Danang, then a 45minute taxi to Hoi An…
