Day 44! We dropped off the car this morning, which was a bit of a nightmare because the roads we needed were closed. We ended up having to leave it at a completely different drop off point than we'd thought! We walked back to the hostel and the streets were awful, so dodgy and full of homeless people and druggies. After a free bagel breakfast in the hostel we headed to Macy's where I got my eyebrows done at the original Benefit Brow Bar and spent a small fortune on all my makeup and cosmetics that have run out! We met Jose and took the bus out to Alamo square to meet Thea and Efia for lunch. We went to this really cute little bakery called La Boulange, and I had an open turkey sandwich and tomato soup, followed by an amazing salted caramel macaroon. We then took like 3 buses out to Golden Gate Bridge, which, I'm not gonna lie, is just a bridge. I don't really get what all the fuss is about! Maybe I would have appreciated it more if the weather wasn't SO COLD. It's freezing here, colder than home. We then took more buses out to Mission District, where we had been told there were nice bars and restaurants. We got off the bus and saw just loads of run down shops, druggies and homeless people. Great. Luckily we managed to find a nicer street and went to a Vietnamese restaurant called Mau which was pretty good. We then all decided it would be too difficult to organise a night out while we're staying in different places so we came back to the hostel and played blackjack with pennies! As can probably be gathered from this blog, I am not loving San Fran so far. We haven't found any nice areas - I really hope that improves as we have another 5 days to kill here!! L x
