So arrived in the middle of nowhere and had no idea where we were going, classic!! However, somehow managed to navigate our way to the hostel pretty much no probs.
Washington has been great!! really enjoyed it! The hostel was amazing! Really friendly place with an excellent atmosphere. Met some lovely people (Tom, Red and Sarah ) which i think made a real diff to our time there.
So the first day we basically went in every museum in DC!! I was pretty fed up by about the 4th museum/ art gallery so i had to draw the line at the space and air museum!! back to the hostel and 6 coronas later we were on our way out with Red, Tom and some of this ozzy mates!! great night but expensive.
The next day Nathan, Tom and I wondered round all the monuments , the white house, Lincoln, martin luther king and washington monument (the widge shaped one). Also came across a local black community festival which was great. Lovely food, steel band and lots of freebies... perfect.
During our visit to Washington we also visited the local farmers market which was really cute, lots of different stalls and excellent food, more freebies!! We also when to the Zoo which was cool, highlight the baby panda and best of all it was free!!
The final day in Washington was pretty mental, we basically got invited to go on a private tour of the pentagon with Tom through a friend of a friend, Brian who works there. It was insane, we got to go in all the no public assess areas and apparently saw lots of really important people!! A really surreal morning.
Although there was a very federal feel with lots and lots of security most likely because it was 10th anniversary of 9/11, Washington has been great, a lovely place.
