Such a long day! i woke wednesday at 8.30 am... and i have been told it is now thursday 10.30pm and i havent really slept. The flights were awesome, everything was perfectly timed and i wasnt late or delayed at all. Stop over in Bangkok was mindblowing. that is one big airport, i walked from my arrival gate to my departure gate and it took me 45mins, without stopping to browse. 45 mins! omg. Thai airlines are great and i ended up having extra seats on both legs (hello yay) landing in london was magical, the sun was rising and the sky was red :) and i got to have a birdseye look down the thames, which was amazing, and saw the london eye, and tower bridge. arrived in heathrow busting for a pee, so headed to the loo, TOILET FLUSHES THE OTHER WAY! lol. went through passport control where all of my worries about Visa's etc were cool, no problems. then through to baggage claim, which was so daunting, not like in aus at all. there were bags strewn all over the ground. and the carousels were hard to read. to my dismay there were no bags from my flight on the carousel, and all the other passengers had bailed. s***! no luggage to be seen, i went to the 'helpful' staff at the desk, who told em they would ship it to me within FIVE days... excuse me when i say f***KKK! i gave all the details i could, and then went to have another look, called mum, and whilst on the phone TADA there amidst a crowd of yanks a pile of luggage, at the base of this pile; my bag! HOORAH! serious happiness!
So headed off for what i was sure would be another delay through customs. however, i am yet to see customs, i dont know if other travellers through heathrow can tell me or not, HELLO- no customs... no one checking baggage, a sign that says nothing to declare, then out to the waiting masses. not that i had anything to declare, or reason to be stopped, but still... they really dont care what comes into their country!
So then i followed the signs to the underground, bought my ticket and headed on the tube... it was peak hour, similar to melb trains in the morning, only with EXTREME sardine-packing. no room to breathe, or move, and silence.. dead silence. and there was me standing with my oversized backpack and a silly grin on my face, cos hell, i was on the tube! got off at russell square station and found my hotel, only of course i can't check in yet. so i have wasted some time and found this amazing park near my hotel.. where there are SQUIRRELLS. and i love squirrells, i had never seen one im my life b4, but definitely love them!
so thats my day to now.. im chilling in the contiki basement at the moment. where its warm. until 2 where i can bail out and lie down... finally!
till next time!
