I matriculated in 2004 and left for university with one goal in mind: to spend the next couple of years exploring the world. While at university I spent one semester at a Canadian University in Quebec and spent three months working on a ski resort in Colorado. I was definitely bitten by the travel bug and couldn’t wait to graduate and start working and travelling overseas. I completed my BA degree and went on to obtain a diploma in education, specializing in teaching English as a second language. My goal was to travel and teach English around the world. And of course, being a native English speaker, there were many opportunities open to me.
Asia was beckoning and I decided to start my journey in South Korea. Asia is a fantastic place for English teachers, with its abundant job opportunities; good pay and numerous benefits. I decided to head for South Korea, and have been teaching at a Korean high school for 2 months already. I live in a city called Daejeon, about two hours away from Seoul and am thoroughly enjoying myself in this dynamic and completely foreign city.
