Thursday
Woke up this morning and headed downstairs to meet up with our guide. Today we have done uncle Brian's which is a tour to various lakes and waterfalls in and around the cairns area.
First stop was in Bibinda where we trekked through the rainforest a bit to see the rather large boulders and then had a swim. The water was amazing - so clear and clean!
Then we went to Josephine Falls where we were supposed to go rock sliding but due to the heavens opening the falls had a lot more water in them making it too dangerous for actually do this. As a result it was straight back on Gus the Bus.
Next port of call was Milla Milla Falls, home of the waterfall used in the herbal essence and timotei adverts. Therefore it was compulsory that we recreate the infamous hair flick. My first attempt wasn't so good and I ended up looking like the girl from the film The Ring. Next one hopefully was an improvement but we shall see when the photos make it on to Facebook.
As our bus decided to breakdown in the car park we had to get a lift back to the top where we dropped at a cafe for lunch. They had the most amazing bread rolls and we had cider whilst waiting for the bus to be fixed.
After lunch we headed to Lake Eacham which was the most beautiful lake - even in the torrential rain! Again we got to swim which was nice and the water was nice and warm! A hot chocolate and marshmallows awaited us at the top which was soooooooooooo needed.
We them stopped at Millers Point to try and see a platypus but as per our luck so far during the day they didn't want to play ball either and were no where to be seen.
Back on the bus and it was back to the hostel. Sid our driver happily presented us with some goon as we pulled off....oh dear!
Back at the hostel, quick shower and change and we headed down to the bar to meet the guys from the tour for a few drinks. We even managed to sneak in dinner as they had technically stopped serving 10 minutes prior to us getting down.
It was ladies night so we were presented with a champagne flute and card entitling us to 5 free glasses of champagne and I happily took them up on this offer. A few drinks then turned into staying till closing which was fortunately only 12 as it's Anzac Day in Australia.
Got upstairs and decided to skype Thomas however the skype Gods decided they had other plans and this proved unsuccessful and we gave up in the end.
