Woke up early this morning to skype Tom and had to sneak out the room without waking everyone else..easier said then done when you're as clumsy as me! Managed to crash the bag of food containing breakfast into the wall and then door - that did the trick in waking people up - oops!
Got our stuff together and headed down to the dolphin encounter check in and then enjoyed a nice hot chocolate before donning a wet suit yet again! This time will boots, gloves and hood...this should have clicked into place then that what we were about to do was going to be a tad chilly but it didn't.
A short briefing and bus ride and we were on a boat..along with an American school outing - oh the fun!
We soon arrived at the first spot and they had us all get ready at the back of the boat so as soon as a horn was sounded we could drop straight into the sea. We soon noticed the hundreds of dolphins in the area and then the horn blow. In we went only to swim like mad people in order to warm up - the sea was freezing! Around 2 degrees apparently in temperature! After a short while we got used to it and realised we were surrounded by wild dusky dolphins swimming around and under is! It was amazing! In order to attract them we were told to make noises so and the America kids did just that...although I'm not sure what noises they were! Anyway we got to snapping using our underwater camera.
Back on the boat after 30 minutes we headed to another location to find another pod of dolphins. Again the horn blow and we were in the water...this time though the dolphins were on the move and at speed so no sooner had we got in the water and they had gone.
Then came the challenge of removing the wetsuit and getting dressed in the cold! Fortunately the boat came complete with a hot water house which I happily used!
Once dressed we could go to the front of the boat and watch the dolphins with hot chocolate and biscuits! It then became clear just how many dolphins we had swam with! Also they start add performing acrobatics.
Then began the journey back and we even got to see a sperm whale albeit in the distance!
Once back on shore we picked up the USB with our pictures on, did a food shop and then stayed at the hostel for the remainder of the afternoon/evening trying to warm up with hot chocolate and teas and then pasta carbonara for dinner - with a glass of wine!
After dinner the only option was bed so we did just that!
