Woke up bright and early this morning and snuck out the dorm to get ready -didn't want to wake the others that were still sleeping.
Quick stop at the 7 eleven to get breakfast (a krispy kreme donut) and headed to the hotel for our pick up.
A mini bus eventually pulled up and out came a man who was the perfect mix of crocodile Dundee and Steve Irwin. He greeted us and introduced himself as smokey, our driver and tour guide for the day.
Soon enough we were on our way to the blue mountains. We briefly stopped in Glenbrook for a quick coffee and then we were on the road again.
We arrived at the mountains and began our hike to the Wentworth falls. The scenery was amazing! Even got myself a free makeover - well if you call pouring water onto stone and then rubbing the minerals on my face like the aborigines did!
After returning to the mini van 2 hours later we were on the road again to Leura to pick up our lunch, stopping at a park to eat our chicken sandwiches and brownies!
After lunch we headed to the 3 sisters. These are 3 rocks on the edge of a mountain that aborigines used to use to tell tales to their children.
The story goes that a village elder who believe the kangaroo shin stick he had possessed magical powers. His wife complained his 3 daughters were always misbehaving and left her husband to deal with them. He had to go our hunting so took the daughters with him. He told them to stand at the top of the mountain so he could look up and see them and under no circumstances could they misbehave.
The eldest daughter behind her fathers back decided to throw a rock to hit a caterpillar and missed, the rock tumbling towards the bottom of the mountain where it hit another rock releasing a large beast.
The beast began climbing the mountain to kill the daughters. The father realising this attempts to use the wand to save his daughters but it wouldn't work. The powers would not work on the beast so instead he turned his daughters into stone so they couldn't be harmed. The beast seeing this turns around and goes for the father instead.
He attempted to run away and in the course of doing so trips and loses the wand. He managed to escape but in losing the wand he lost the ability to change his daughters back.
The morale of the story is to listen to your parents, behave and don't grow stones at caterpillars!
We carried on down the 1000 steps to the bottom where we then got the wolds steepest train back to the top. It was incredible!
It was then time to head back to the hostel where we quickly had dinner, washed clothes and then booked the next few nights accommodation. Also made arrangements for my cousin to come down to Sydney on Friday for the weekend so should be exciting!!!
Lie in in the morning woo!!!!
