Today the work began…no more wineries for us for now!
Our first job for Chris and Paul was to help clear out their garage and 'pit' behind it. We worked hard all morning, carrying out all sorts of rubbish - old microwaves, a TV, old window frames, metal sheeting, you name it! We also took apart Paul's old shooting range with a mallet - satisfying work! We finished at about 1pm and had some lunch with Chris and their two dogs, Jezabel and Kelly. We felt a bit sorry for Kelly, who's not very well - she's already blind in both eyes and now she's off her food as well - not looking good!
After our toasties, we decided to walk down to the beach at Port Noarlunga. It ws all I'd imagined about beaches in Australia - golden sand, warm, blue ocean, kids having surfing lessons - we could have been in Home and Away! We spent our afternoon soaking up the sun and splashing around in the waves, now that it's hot enough to actually go into the sea!
When we got back to Chris and Paul's, Chris was already making our dinner of bangers and mash - we'd told her it was on of our favourites…we could get used to this! We chatted about our travels and our lives back home…seems like a long way away at the moment!
Later, we watched a couple of Australian programmes with Chris - our first taste of Australian TV, and it's an improvement on NZ - they actually make their own programmes here!
A busy first day in Port Noarlunga!
