Laura's Travels
Hey guys and girls,
Okay so we arrived in X'ian a couple of hours ago after a 12 hour overnight train journey from Beijing, nice! Shared a teeny weeny cabin with 5 other peeps, a bit squishy at times but still managed to sleep so can't really complain too much. So the last few days have been pretty special - the highlight being a 4 hour trek along the Great Wall of China ... absolutely incredible. The wall itself was spectaular and whichever way you looked the views proved breathtaking! The trek though physically challenging was so much fun and I felt so proud of myself by the end. However, I can't take all the credit for finishing as I had a cute little chinese lady (Hi Yu) help me for part of the way. She was pulling me up the steep rocky slopes and making sure I didn't fall over (such a bless!). After the hike we caught a zip line down to our hotel, very cool. So now we're in X'ian - quite a cosmopolitan city, very clean. Had a walk around the muslim quarter and its markets this morning. Then went up to the top of the bell tower, which is in the centre of a huge roundabout so we were able to see pretty much all of X'ian. Tonight I believe we're off to a karaoke bar ... should be interesting, maybe I could perform my rendition of 'I'm leaving on a jet plane', what do you think?!
Missing you all already, lots of love x x x
