First thing this morning we booked to do a tour for tomorrow to go to the Tiger Temple. Really excited about that!
Decided to walk to the Grand Palace. that was a bad idea as we clearly looked like tourists with our oversized maps. Tuk tuk drivers kept coming up to us asking where we were going, did we want a lift blah blah! So annoying! Being continuously harrassed makes it so much harder to be polite.
A few locals told us it didnt open till 1pm for some reason so we went to a local cafe for a drink and where i could change into trousers as no one is allowed in wearing shorts (not sure why).
Once entering the Grand Palace we found out it hadnt been shut. Laura overheard people talking about locals that work for other temples lie and say its closed so they hope you go off with them. Rubbish! We wasted time sat in the cafe. It did lush smoothies though.
We joined an English tour so we knew what was going on inside the Palace. We were quite disappointed as the Emerald Buddha who is important here was tiny!! So small we could barely see him sat on the mountain of gold. And he wasnt even made of emerald, but Jade! The Palace was cool though as it was so beautiful and some parts were made of pure gold.
After the Grand Palace we did what we do best... SHOP! Finally got linen tops which we have been looking for since China.
Also bought another rucksack to hold all my new stuff. Are we buying to much???? Probably!
