Urghhhh awful train journey. I did a laura and spent most of it in the loo.
But yay we arrived in Hong Kong today. We got off the night train just before the border and then had to walk the rest of the way. Hmmm maybe we have bought to many things as our bags are a lot heavier than before. Rubbish!!
Crossing the border was a pain in the ass. We had to fill in loads of forms about entering the country and stuff and cross through different check points. Also we got scanned while walking through and good news no Swine Flu!
Yay our phones work in Hong Kong. Great news!
Was really sad though as once we arrived at the main train station, we had to say goodbye to a few people. Emma and Andy who we love (our posh mates who arent so posh) were leaving. We got on with those guys so well but hopefully we will keep in touch as they are only over in London. Goodbye Chumas-Cohen!!
Arrived at our hotel, showered and straight back out. A power shower yay!! Good times!
Found a fast food place and had possibly the best meal in yonks. Rice, Chicken and veg. Finally vegetables! Its been so difficult to find any yum yum....then tried to find out hostel as James and Tegan would be in Hong Kong a while and wanted to stay with us. We found it unfortunately. it was not that great but oh well.
Caught the ferry across to Hong Kong Island and then the Tram up to the Peak. Soooo steep. The view even though it was misty was amazing. Could see all of Kowloon and part of the Island. The skyscrapers where so high! Walking back down it felt claustrophobic in some places where the buildings are so close together. It was quite imense. But we love it! Its like London but on a more extreme scale in terms of huge designer stores, Neon signs and just the general craziness.
After arriving back at our hotel we had a bit of a chat about the hostel we had booked. Basically we HATED it!! We spoke to Stoney who recommended a chain of tea houses instead. Looked online at it was a bit out of the way but looked nice and was cheaper than were we had originally booked. Stoney rang to cancel our hostel booking, who then told us we had to do it through hostel bookers which was crap. We basically had a bit of a panic trying to sort out cancelling the room. Hopefully it has been done ok. We booked the new Tea house and had a quick wander to see if we could find the French-Canadians at the night market. They were leaving super early in the morning so were in bed (sob sob) but we left them notes instead. We are going to miss them too :(
