Its sunny and there's blue sky - and what a difference it makes!! We headed out about 10am and went to the Yuyuan Gardens and walked across the zig-zagging bridge - it's lovely here, especially in the sun. You could get lost in this place though, again it's one of those places that seem never ending with something new around every corner. We had to pay to get in here but at only 30¥ each (about £3 each) you can't really complain! We picked up some food on the way out - a pork kebab type thing and some dough balls with mayonnaise and what tastes like BBQ sauce on them! They were yummy.
We then decided we should go and see the Jade Buddha Temple, the bus tickets we have include entry into here as well. The air was filled with incense smoke as people said their prayers, we took a sneaky photo of the jade Buddha in the inner temple and had a good wander around.
We caught the bus then to the Pearl Tower - not to dissimilar to the CN Tower! We went up to the highest viewing deck - called the Space Pod (and yes it is space themed...) - we had great views of the city, slightly hazy but nothing like it was yesterday. Below the Space Pod was the Observation deck, so another lift down and we made our way to the glass floor!!! This runs around the edge of the deck and is definitely more scary than the CN glass floor!! Not happy with just one talk building to climb, we also took advantage of the free ticket from the bus tour for the Jin Mao Tower - 88 floors up and another fabulous view of the city - perhaps a similar height to the Space Pod of the Pearl Tower too. Next to this tower stands the newly built (well, still under construction) Shanghai Tower - it really does tower above the rest. I can't imagine having to work on the crane on the top of that building - awful!
Feeling rather hungry Alex picked up a McDonalds (yes I know but it was quick and easy!) and we made our way back to the bus -not happy with all the things we had done today we again took advantage of another free ticket from the bus tour - Huangpu River Cruise! This was great, we caught the 6.40pm boat and for over an hour we cruised the river seeing the city all lit up - it was so colourful!! By the end of the cruise though it was freezing so once it was over we grabbed a taxi back to the hotel, dumped our bags and found another restaurant down the road for our tea. We've just received our drinks and luckily tonight they are the right ones!
Great but busy day - it's now 9pm and we're waiting for our food - a chicken dish, green veg and noodles. Starvin'.
