Didnt spend much time in Vic Falls, just spent a day chilling then went for a farewell meal with the truck. Bumped into some of the guys from my first truck in Ethiopia and also Lenard, Anisto and Ian from the Lion Encounter (where I worked last year) and then caught a flight down to Harare to meet up with Rudi (an old friend from uni).
Spent a couple of days in Harare before heading off on a 14 drive to Vilankulos in Mozambique. Whilst in Vilankulos I spent 4 days on my PADI Open Water Scuba diving course. This involved 5 pool sessions, 5 theory sessions and then 4 open water dives. It was a lot more complex than I first realised, I had to do things like filling my mask with water (a lot more difficult than it sounds), controlling my bouyancy with my breathe, sharing my air with my buddy (without holding my breathe or my lungs may explode!) and learning about all the equipment and dive planning! Then Ihad an exam at the end! I passed and am now an open water scuba diver!
I thought my first dive in Vilankulos was pretty amazing until we headed down to Inhambane and dived on Manta reef! We saw so many fish that it was difficult to see the water! I saw a Manta Ray, two Moray Eels and a Potato Bass, all of them were bigger than me! It was pretty spectacular!
Whilst camping in Inhambane we had an absolutely huge storm! The lightening lit up the whole campsite! We got soaked and I ended up sleeping in the car! Luckily, the next day the manager of the campsite gave us a free rondaval so that we could dry out our stuff!
Next stop Harare and then home :(
