hey up chucks
hope everything is well at home and that the weather is warmer than here. i am again alive and kicking after my sore throat, cough and general worn downness.
so anyway back to what you came on here to read - the last blog was so so rushed and i missed loads of stuff out like the jetboating we did at Huka Falls, and the bird who poo'd right down my back and just loads of stuff really haha and the extreme overuse of the word massive on sunday the 17th haha. i didnt even read through it after id written it so ill try take this one a bit slower and not be posting it with 20 secs of internet time remaining.
tuesday 27th - up and out by 7.30. urrrgh and we had the sarcastic bus driver again, who sings as he loves to be the centre of attention.
anyway left Franz Josef and headed towards Fox Glacier where we visited Lake Matheson which is a mirror lake due to the leaves that fall into it which decompose and make it look black blah blah blah wasnt listening.... anyway it looks like the water is black and all the mountains have near perfectreflections in the water. well would have done had it not been 8am on a crispy frosty morning with thick blanket fog. add to that the fact we had to wade through the fog of our own exhalations since it was that cold. i think i had every layer i owned on. went for a coffee to warm up and wake up.
next stop was the central otago region where the scenery changes from dense forest to vast plateau. haha copied that from the itinery!! yeah so it was pretty and cold and there was snowy peaks, woah and seriously twisty roads!
Lake Hawea was next again another pretty lake and set of moutnains. then guess what another lake - Lake Wanaka. a lot of people got of here and were spending the night but there was nothing to do there so we decided and extra night in queenstown instead. had to stop while the others got off so yet again two 22 year olds in the play park. they so should make adult play areas, it totally warmed us up too.
next stop eeeek was the Kawarau Bridge 43m above the Kawarau river and the site of the first ever bungy. and guess who was brave and amazing and did a bungy..... no not me - Becky!! definatly didnt want to join her ive never been more certain of not wanting to do something in my life than that.
was scary enough just watching her. i just screamed when she went and i swear i was shaking more than her. but there wasnt even a hesitation she just went for it and i barely had time to take a few snaps before it was over and she was in the boat at the bottom.
headed into queesntown and into Southern Laughter our hostel for the next 4 nights. splashed out and bought a twin room just so we could explode our bags and not have to worry about locking things away for a while. comfy beds too.
showered, changed, grabbed our free soup and then headed into town with Nichola and Niamh two irish girls we have been on the Magic bus with for a while and had a few drinks. oh god and almost forgot.... we had a FERGBURGER!!!
the biggest and best burgers ive seen in my life. we've heard a lot of people raving bout them so thought we'd have to try one. jesus they put bigmacs to shame.
wednesday 28th - up at the crack of a sparrows fart haha actually i think we were up before the birds! had to be in town by 7am to catch the coach to Milford SOund. and 4 hours and a few stops later including one at Te Anau, we arrived. was really picturesque, the mountians were the biggest ive seen in my life, all snow topped and again it was so so cold. got a ferry cruise around the actual Milford Sound bit, out into the sea and back again. didnt see any dolphins like the coach driver had said we would but never mind.
arrived back into Queenstown 7pm and somthing strange in our brains made us buy wine in the supermarket instead of food. anway drank some wine, watched Gladiators then have come into town to find some cheap internet. dread the walk home though its bitterly cold but i like it here, all the chalets and snow. shame the ski slopes dont open till the 7th of june grrrr.
all for now ciao xxxx
