G'day everyone! Hope you all had a very merry christmas and wish you all a happy new year!
Well my mum and dad have been out here for almost two weeks now and it's nearly time for them to go back home already. When they first arrived we spent a couple of days just relaxing and letting them get over their jetlag and getting used to the heat! Then we all hit the road south in Bryan and Patricia's big camper. We headed straight for Yallingup where we spent two nights at a campsite there. When we arrived the weather was perfect and the sun was shining. However, the next morning when we woke up, everywhere was soaking! It had been raining most of the night and it didn't really clear up for a couple of days. It didn't stop us from doing what we were there to do though, wine tasting. We headed to Margaret River which is a well known wine region and found plenty of winerys and probably sampled too many wines! (Well mum did anyway!) We also did some beer tasting at a local brewery and chocolate tasting at the chocolate factory.
The next day we set off towards Pemberton to see the big trees down there. We were about 10kms outside Pemberton when the truck stopped and we realised we had ran out of diesel! Bryan managed to get a lift into town to get some and got another lift back out again. Before long we were back on the road again. We returned back to Perth that night in time for Courtney's birthday the next day. For his b'day we took him karting and then out for burgers and chips (his favourite) for dinner!
We have had a really good christmas out here, very different from back home! We had a champagne breakfast on Cottesloe Beach and a barbequed turkey for our christmas dinner. It has been really good to have mum and dad out here for christmas.
We have also taken a trip to Rottnest Island which is just off the coast of Perth, we spent a night on the island and got back yesterday. It is beautiful over there, it was very busy though as this is the main holiday time over here at the minute.
Today we are heading to York for two nights, it is an old town about 100km inland from Perth. The weather forecast for the next couple of days is about 38 degrees so hopefully mum copes alright with the heat!
Will keep you all updated!
