So we've been in melbourne a week now!
The first weekend we were here we went up in the dandenongs mountains and went to the peak to see the amazing views of Melbourne! We also went to the William Ricketts Santury which had loads of aborignal art and statues which was really interesting! We also went to the beach and had a nice lunch with Ros there.
Ros is spoiling us really! We are having nice cooked meals every evening and picking us up from our late shifts so thats really nice not have to walk back in the cold!
Placement is going well they are really friendly and welcoming! The practice is very different though and the obstericians play a huge part in the womans care as its a private hospital, so the midwives miss out on a lot of the deliveries!
It is becoming difficult just observing as we are capable of doing everything! So we are just managing to do the odd thing and working with women to help them breastfeed! As we do the hands off methods lol!
We are planning to do lactation clinic, parent education and consultant clinics this week so we arent doing the same thing as last week! as in one week you pretty much see it all!
We went into the main City at the weekend which was really good although again very early mornings! We met up with Laurens friend Lucy who moved over to perth 3 1/2 years ago so that was nice!
We went up into the Eurika sky tower which was 88 floors high with awesome views of melbourne and it was really clear so saw everything we wanted up there! We went to a few nice places to eat including a pancake house! We went to a bar on a roof terrace also so that was pretty cool!
The next day we went to the neighbours tour which was good! Laura was in heaven and enjoying every second! We have many pictures! Whereas Lauren didnt have a clue of what was being said! We got shown Ramsey street, the mains sets, the old school and then got to meet a cast member and it was really funny because everyone was like huh!!! Whos that! She hadnt been in it for many years!
We then met with Lucy again and went on the free tourist bus! We got off at st kildas which was beautiful, it had little markets full of wierd and wonderful things, we didnt buy anything though as we dont want to weigh our bags down just yet!
We are now starting to regret not renting a car and we are getting very tired walking every where but i suppose at least we are getting fit for once haha!
We are on a late shift today so better go and get ready for that! We will update soon!
Love Lauren and Lauraxxx
