So today was quite productive - we found a car! (the one in the blog picture) Hurray, the hunt is now over. It's a 2003 Ford Escape XLS 4x4. It's got average mileage, good service history and although it was over our price range, Jacob managed to haggle it down a bit more.. We have only agreed over the phone that we want to buy it after looking at it today, so we'll go and pick it up on Monday. Which means we need to sort out insurance etc tomorrow or before we get the car on Monday morning!
We ate at Boston pizza today.. the portion sizes are huge! It's funny how a 'sandwich' here is really a huge burger or flatbread that takes up half the plate! I had a quesadilla which was nice and Jacob had a bbq sandwich. (All my blogs seem to talk about at the moment are cars and food!)
Downtown was pretty busy this morning as there was a Fan Expo thing going on at the convention centre. I read there were things like vehicles from Back to the Future there, celebs from quirky series and classic/popular films, including Sean Astin (Sam from Lord of the Rings incase you don't know).. who is also running the Sun Run (10k run here) tomorrow! Everyone was dressed up as comic book characters and classic characters from Starwars, and we spotted a few Dr Who's lurking about etc - it was quite interesting to see! It's not everyday you're in Vancouver on a Saturday morning watching R2-D2 tottling down the street I guess!
It's 6:30pm here now (2:30am there) so it's time for a light dinner and film/bed time, ready to watch the streets fill with thousands of people and cheer on the Sun Run tomorrow.

Kayleigh Excellent! Well done! It looks a sturdy creature :) Now you can properly enjoy Vancouver without it hanging over you. xxxx
mum Great news! looks like a really nice car. I have never driven a 4x4, has Jacob? Whats it like on fuel? Bet you can't wait to get behind the wheel Laura lol I guess Jacob will do the driving in Vancover :) Really pleased for you both . Enjoy! love you xx
Laura H It was worth going slightly over our budget for what will hopefully be a fairly reliable car! It's not too bad on insurance either. It'll probably be a bit more of a guzzler for fuel, but its reasonable on reviews. Jacobs taken two for a test drive now, we both like it - feels safer and nicer to be high up, and its an automatic so no fuss with gears. xxx
Laura (and its a Ford which we think are good cars - contrary to Clints opinion) ;)
Laura Jacob has driven vans before too. It's not too big and it handles well. We'll check it over one last time before making payment xx
