When we left Hoi An we had to get a 16 hour night bus to Hanoi- the night bus was made slightly better by the fact that we met two boys from England to do part of the journey with so we went out for food with them and went and visited some temples on our stop off.
On the second bus we got on though we were put on the wrong bus and had to get off in our pyjamas to try and find our bags and be taken to another bus- which was quite embarrassing.
The last fews days we have been on a boat trip to Halong Bay and Cat Ba Island which was amazing!! On the first day we went to see the 'Amazing Caves' which are one of the seven modern wonders of the world. We met some really nice girls from Holland as well and spent the first evening on the boat with them. On the first night we slept on the boat and it was actually really nice... On the second day of the boat trip we went to a private island that was just for our boat and went to a place called Monkey Island. Although there was drama on the trip as one of the girls on the trip got attacked and bitten by a monkey- then they got taken to the hospital and they did not have any vaccinations for Rabies. In the evening we had a BBQ on the beach and some people on the trip ate dog- we opted out of that option though!
We went out in Hanoi last night with two girls we have met called Maike and Esther- we went to a place called Hair of the Dog- although I think their alcohol must be stronger here as i have no memory of the night at all...but I have been informed by Beth and Hannah that some classic moves were pulled out.
Today we went to see Ho Chi Minh in the mausoleum which was kind of freaky as you are basically staring at a dead body and you all have to wander around it in a queue- we have also ventured to eating our first street food (not quite sure what the meat actually was in it) but it tasted good!
It is weird how close it is too Christmas because no one seems to be mentioning it here and there are basically no decorations!
Missing everyone from home!!
