It is true what they say attemting to keep a blog going while travelling is virtually impossible because you never have the time to actually stop, but now I will attempt to update you on our latest adventures!
We had an amazing Whitsundays trip on board the Tongarra boat with out crazy skipper who was a tiny Australian deadlocked man called Dave and our captain Ben.
On the first day of our trip we met the other 18 people who were travelling with us on board and sunbathed on the deck after having our safety briefing...which was basically 'Do not jump overboard, you will die'.
Once we have been on the board a while Dave started to cook our dinner for us, naturally the dinner was cooked naked with a tiny apron covering his modesty. It is safe to say though i think we all saw more than we bargained for in the dinner preparation....after the dinner we played some games and then set up our beds to sleep on the deck.
On the second day of our trip we woke up at about 5am covered in horse flies and were being bitten like mad, but it really did not matter because it was the most picturesque place to wake up I have ever seen. We set off early for Whitehaven beach and it was honestly the most incredible beach I have ever seen with the purest sand...it was so fine you could actually clean your teeth with it.
After getting on the boat we then sailed to another part of the Whitsundays islands to go snorkelling and to look at tropical fish in the water. In the water though the Captain got lots of amusement out of throwing fish food at me so the fish would all swim into me and follow me around...I did not find this as amusing.
The second night on the boat brought about some of the funniest games we have ever played. First of all we were split into 4 teams by Dave and Ben (who at this point were dressed up like women). Hannah was in the team that got to dress u like old ladies in their nighties, while me and Beth lucked out and were in the superhero team. In the games me and Beth lost at passing the orange from our bellies to my chin and Hannah lost at attempting to pop a balloon with another girl called Fleur. I did miraculously though win an arm wrestle for the first time in my life.
After the games we stayed up drinking and looking at the stars all night, I did however ask the stupid question of 'Where is the North star?', to be told we were in the Southern hemisphere so I wouldn't be spotting the North star anytime soon.
On the last day of our trip we woke up early again so we could fit in another snorkelling session before returning back to Airlie Beach. When we were snorkelling we managed to see and stroke a turtle which was pretty incredible and we managed to spot some dophins in the distance.
Whitsundays was an incredible once in a lifetime trip with some incredible people on board, Benny the sleeper, Timu, Fleur, Rachel (I am still fairly certain you let me win the arm wrestle), Marlon and everyone else we all had an amazing time because of you!
