Breakfast was served at 7, and consisted of English muffins with a selection of spreads, cornflakes, coco pops, muesli, fruit salad and yoghurt.
We sailed to Whitsunday Island, and had to get the speedboat from the main boat to the rocky bay. We then walked to the lookout where we could see the swirling sands of Whitehaven beach- you can only see them when the tide is low. We had a few hours to spend on the beach, which has the softest, purest white sand- it felt like walking on flour! This is because something about the shape of the bay means impurities are washed away and it is made of pure silica. The water was a gorgeous blue too, and me and Alice saw some stingrays. We went to the lookout a second time to see the sand at a different stage of the tide.
Back on the boat, we had a lunch of potato salad, tuna salad, ham, chicken, rolls and vegetables.
We sailed to the bay we were snorkelling in, but me and Alice only got a few minutes in before Charlie took us to 'Power Play', the boat we were going to go on, but didn't because we thought you just did diving on it, so we could take advantage of our free dive. I was a bit panicky as there always seems so much to remember, but we just had to show w could clear our masks and find our regulator if it got knocked out. It was fun to swim around with the fish- a huge Maori wrasse was looking over Alice's unsuspecting shoulder, and I was a bit scared by its massive beady eye staring at me. We saw lots of parrot fish- the fish I liked in Fitzroy Island but didn't know the name for. The water was freezing though so we had to get out, and go in the hot tub on the boat to warm up, although that just made me shiver just as much when I got out!
We had tea, coffee, biscuits and lamingtons and then afternoon snack was nachos as we sailed to our last snorkelling spot (although we are going to do this tomorrow morning, and just staying here tonight). Since I had put no beef as a dietary requirement, me and Katie had vegan sausages, and Alice had veggie lasagne whilst everyone had lasagne, garlic bread, and salad with mud cake for dessert which we didn't manage to finish and so had to be thrown out (Charlie wasn't allowed to save it for legal reasons).
