First stop on the drive today was at Haast's Blue Pools, which you had to walk a 30 minute round trip to get to. On the way back, the woman from a French couple exclaimed "oh! We have your book". They had parked their van in front of ours last night, and Alice's Nelson Mandela's book must have fallen out of the door pocket when she closed the door (his payback for her comment about the sand fly torture?). I was also going to stop at Lake Wanaka as it was supposed to be nice, but there didn't seem to be any signposts for it so didn't.
The I-site told us that we wouldn't be able to park in a hostel for the night, so we were going to discuss what we were going to do, but ended up just buying lunch in the mall food court- I brought a coffee from McDonalds and got tempted by a spinach and feta muffin, and then again got tempted by the sushi after Alice said it was as good as sushi paradise. I'm not sure what it was but the roll called 'Lion King' was amazing, although the salmon and avocado roll was average.
The parking had run out, so we were going to park in a residential street and then contact Nobby, one of the chefs who used to work at Hogs Breath, who now lives here to see if we would just be able to park on his street. We drove past Bunjy Backpackers and saw some vans parked in their car park so thought we'd enquire anyway, and they said we could park for $15 each.
After doing some washing, and starting to clear our van out (have to return it tomorrow, boo hoo) we went to Peter Pans to get our refund for the glacier trek, and book our Milford Sound trip and my bunjy- eek!
