Had a nice lie in today (8.30 was the latest we managed!) and then went to see if there was a pharmacy on the beach front (you don't want to know what that was for but I'm sure it's easy to guess… we're in India after all). There was only a natural remedies type place but we didn't really understand how we were supposed to get help.
We booked onto our South Indian cookery class for tomorrow. There were 6 sections to select 1 from each and we were quite decisive for us in our choice of green banana bhaji, Kerala masala dosa, vegetable biryani, vegetable jalfrezi, fish malabruni (?) and banana pasalmer (?). This made us hungry so we had coconut and raisin porridge and toast at coffee temple. This was rated on trip advisor as quite good, but the coffee wasn't anything to write home about in my opinion- it tasted very strong compared to the sweet, milky Indian stuff. Alice liked watching the puppies playing nearby. AN old Indian man got barked at by the mother and seemed quite scared as he backed off- bless him!
We couldn't wait to finish our washing so that we could finally get down to the beach. The lady selling pineapples had a good although unsuccessful sales trick- she started singing "beautiful madam, beautiful madam, nyum yum yum, pineapple" to the girls lying quite near us. We obviously weren't beautiful enough though as she just asked us if we wanted one.
Pretty much as soon as we lay down we got sand all over us so occasionally we took a dip in the (warm) sea. The waves were quite aggressive.
Later on, we got a tuk-tuk to the town to get money out but Alice's cards weren't working. A phone call revealed it was because of suspicious activity although quite how they'd let it carry on for 3 weeks I don't know- and she'd already rang them up and told them where she was going!
I had wanted to try fish in banana leaf but was feeling a bit strange so played it safe and had egg noodles (I think maybe I'll stop bothering with the unimpressive food).
On the walk back we saw the Australian couple, and earlier on in the day we saw the Israelis.
