Three days in Quito, Ecuador so far and loving it! Still expecting a massive culture shock that has not come-i think the arab nations prepared me sufficiently! People are lovely and friendly and so far have managed to avoid crazed perverts and any shouts of Shakira!
Mix up with my host family has meant that i am living in a massive apartment with mamma gracelia who is a sweet old lady but speaks NO english so i am learning fast...may be switching back to my original family soon?¿
First day of spanish lessons at toni and bipo´s-weather is gorg (its quito`s summer atm)+and its going well! need to buy a notebook as i didnt manage to fit one in the old backpack... met lots of cool ppl already-may be going to see the centro de cultura with a couple of german guys i have met!
Already been out of quito to see the virign mary´s church in a nearby village where ppl pillgrimage from across the colombian border only 4 hours away! they also go there to get their cars blessed for safety on the roads and since anything goes as a vehicle here i can see why...
Hasta luego xxxxxxx
