Rocío's Take on Tuesday:
We woke up early (compared to when our bunkmates went to bed at 5:30am) for 8am breakfast to start the day off during the cooler part of the day.
We took the metro to the eastern part of the city and then walked in the general direction of where the beach should be. It only took a few minutes to find a cute (small) stretch of beach with relatively few people. Most of the early birds were "experienced retirees" getting even a darker dark tan.
The water was cool and perfect. You could see all the way to the bottom and golden flecks of sand made the relatively waveless water sparkle. Beautiful!
I swam, dried in the sun, ate cherries, swam, and dried in the sun. Ah...summer
Oh, and probably about half the women (all the non-tourists?) were topless. While I would love to not have a tan line...I couldn't bring myself to do it on a beach that kept getting progressively more crowded as the day got hotter...
After a shower at the hostel we wandered the city streets before going to Casa Milá, a housing complex famous for the Modernista style in which Gaudi designed it. (I think I found , with only minor changes needed, my perfect kitchen!)
