With our Roma Pass, wegot into the €12 National Museum of Rome for free. Cool.
Although we usually pass by the busts at most museums, we read the first description of the reasons why the first bust had her hair styled a certain way and what that implied about her...and we were hooked. This museum had the best descriptions (in English!) of statues that we have seen so far in this trip. We learned a lot of really interesting, and somewhat random, info. Nice.
We then walked through the fancier part of town, with it's grand hotels and doormen in suits, to the Villa Borghese gardens to chill out before the Borghese Gallery 3pm entry (you must reserve the tickets).
From this gallery, we've concluded that our favorite sculptor to Gian Lorenzo Bernini. Constanza's favorite is "Ratto di Proserpina" while Rocío's is "David." We really like the expressions and emotions that Bernini carved into marble.
Oh, and we totally saw a painting if the actor who plays Voldermort: see if you can Google "Ritrato di Antonio Canova" by Gaspare Landi from 1806.
We finished up the day walking down the street from Piaza del Popolo through the street lined with high-fashion (ie, incredibly expensive) shops. We saw the busy Spanish Steps and threw coins into the massive (and crowded) Trevi Fountain.
Interesting fact: the coins are collected at the end if each day to help Rome's poor.
