Second day in port on Maui. Drove the rental car up to the summit of Haleakala Crater...elevation of 13000ft.
Unbelievable panoramic views of the whole eastern half of the island.
Back to port in time for the departure for Hilo on Hawai'i (the Big Island)...arrival tomorrow morning around 8am. (Still haven't seen Steve or Dano from Hawaii 5-0).
In the meantime, exploring more of the ship, and the huge number of restaurants and pubs on board.
Weather has been fabulous, but it was kind of chilly at the top of the volcano today...about 32F lower than at sea level.
Have seen so many memorable sights so far...bamboo stands, pineapple groves, coconut palms, Bird of Paradise flowers, Eucalyptis trees, enormous Hibiscus trees, little unknown crawly things, and probably a hundred waterfalls. An absolutely awesome place to visit!
Tomorrow includes a shore excursion to the Volcano National Park. Tons of pictures still to upload to the album connected with this blog but the roaming data plans are killing my budget...over $150 so far!!!
More later!
Aloha! :)
