I made it! Prague is beautiful!! When I was watching the city from the plane I thought I was entering some fairy tale kingdom because of the colorful buildings and bridges. Overall, the city is what i had pictured... great architecture everywhere you look, red roofs, hills, and the busyness of the 5th largest european city!
Jetlag is something I hadn't really experienced until now... Yes, it's been a busy two days, and I don't feel as energetic as I could be, so tonight and tomorrow I hope to settle in and relax. Sara, my roommate, is coming back to our flat tomorrow. She has been gone teaching an english summer camp, so luckily her boyfriend, Neil, has been kind enough to help me around the city, and just entertain. Neil has been extra entertaining me because he'sscottish, and in his great accent says things like topper, lad, lovely, and bloke. hehe
It's been a bit overwhelming the past two days! My luggage was lost somewhere between Rome and Prague. I even had a luggage tag that read "I heart baggage handlers." So much for that, in fact, I think I'll scratch out the heart and put "do not trust." The language barrier is a bit larger than I anticipated. It's really been hit and miss. One place the menus was in English, but not really with the service. At another cafe, the entire menu was in Czech, but the cashier spoke English. I've noticed with finding english speakers they are "touristy," however, I'm sure it will be my goal to stay away from more touristy places eventually. Czech restaurants are also not customer service places, so it will be a learning process to eat out in Praugue. I was told never go to a Czech restaurant and expect prompt service. haha. Well that's my first update, and I hope the entries get more amusing the more time goes by...
