Hello hello, finally found a computer that will let us edit and add to this site, not sure yet whether we can get photos up but its been so long since we put something on here that this entry will probably bore you all to sleep anyway!!
Well where do we start!! Since last time, we got to a town called Frans Josef, famous for one of New Zealands Glaciers!! We stayed here for a few nights so we could climb and walk up the glacier. It was a full day climb and was roughly about a 12Km walk. When we got up onto the ice it was amazing, the further up and and up we got the bluer the ice became, it was magical, took your breath away!! We were kitted up in the full gear but even though we were on a huge ice cube, it was boiling hot!! A day that will never be forgotten though! The town was a small town, very much like a Ski resort youd imagine to see in an American film! The views all around though are the best, just surrounded by mountains where the peaks are above the clouds. Very beautiful.
After the Glacier and spending a few days there we headed south some more to Queenstown, the apparant adventure sport capitial of the world! and it was!! Really cool place, we all came away saying it was our fav place so far we have been to! Was again surounded by huge mountains and was on a big lake where the water was so clear you could always see the bottom!!When we first got here it was Chris' 22nd birthday so we had an action packed day. We firstly booked into the activities we wanted to do, and we chose River Surfing, Canyoning and Dean did a sky dive. After they were sorted we found a place that let us hire out a speed boat!! Yeah thats right, they let 4 lads lose on a lake in a speed boat with no experience! So we hammered it around there and also had a ringo. Was great fun! On the night we went out for Chris' birthday, like always, a good night and we all had headaches the morning after!
The following day we did the River Surfing in the afternoon. Was great fun, its basically being on a bodyboard going down the river rapids. Great fun, tiring but good fun! We got a DVD of the afternoon so that will be good fun to watch back!
The day after that we did Canyoning, which is absailing down rocks, rock jumping into pools, sliding down waterfalls to get down the canyon. Was wicked, but as many of you know Jon unfortionately broke his ankle doing this! Would recommend it to everyone to do though, just miss the rock that Jon hit :-S!!
When we found out the full extend of Jons ankle we had to drive him down south more to a town called Invercagill! To be polite, not that most interesting town in New Zealand so will visited jon everyday in hospital and chilled out there. We unfortionately had to leave Jon else we would have missed out plane, so Dean, Chris and Rich started to long drive back up to Christchurch, stopping for a few nights on the way at Queenstown. Chris managed to get a speeding ticket on the way back to Christchurch which was fairly funny!!! Was funny tho, the longest straightest, most deserted road you have ever seen and he got done!!!
The final journey was a further 8 hour drive to Christchurch where we stayed over night back in the jailhouse hostel before getting up at 4am to fly back to Sydney. When we got to Sydney we made our way by train about 80Km south to a town called Wollongong where we are staying in Rich's uncles appartment! Very nice place and Wollongong is a lovely town, on the beach. On our first night we met Rich's cousin, went back to his house and had a few beers! Been chilling out for a few days so far here, we went into Sydney yesterday and saw the Opera House and Bridge and walked round Sydney. Unfortionately Dean and Rich have suddenly come down with, how can we say this politely, stomach bugs! So their newest friend is the toilet, so they are both stuck in the appartment while Chris is currently getting Jon from the airport!
Sorry its been so long, and we hope the photos will come up! We will keep trying with the photos. All take care.
