Today was full of boys stuff. We spent the morning racing round on the 4x4 off road track which was great fun if a little scary for me as we were sometimesalmost vertcal going up hill and nearly always leaning to the left so I was nearest the tree branches!!! But ... I got to drive some too ... Yiipppeee .... Jimmy and Kenan played on the quad bikes and then J.P had a go too. It was very muddy and everyone kept getting stuck. We arrived safely in Cape Town on Wednesday morning, but had to wait until today for the Landy to clear customs. So now J.P is all smiles as his baby arrived safely with no problems! We had a bit of help from a friendly forklift to get the tent back on the roof (apparently I'm a bit too short) and we headed off to collect the last few bits, before it has a quick service and a few extra additions next week, whilst we do some fun stuff in Cape Town with J.P'...

As you can see the Landy has had a makeover that even Trinny and Susannah would be proud of, we have lots of shiny new bits of kit; roll cage, roof rack, rock sliders and wheel carrier courtesy of exact fabrication. A lovely paint job provided by a nice local man called Bill.  A roof tent from Rocky Mountain, a National Luna fridge (I must have somewhere to keep all my chocolate cool!) and a million and one other bits a pieces sourced from e-bay (J.P is an abs...

The original idea was J.P?s; take time out and go travelling (overlanding) across Africa in his much loved Landy (ex-MOD 110 defender, with a re-conditioned 200TDI engine).  So after nearly 2 years of researching, reading, planning, saving, building, buying, completing paperwork and stressing (quite a lot!) we are nearly ready.  The route has changed quite dramatically, as has the time frame, but still we are soon to be off for nearly 4 months to explore So...
