Well Blog fans, it is time for another exciting installment of our wonderful trip.
Well the weather in Queenstown slowly improved but not enough that we could make it up to Milford Sound unfortunately. After we had decided that Price had got Frostbite (big girl) we stayed a bit more inside in Queenstown owing to the fact that it was still freezing. Luckily, our hostel had rather a large tv and they're were many cafes and cinemas that we could venture into! The 33rd annual winterfestival was also slightly cancelled due to the wonderful weather which wasn't great as it meant that all the people who had come in for the festival now had nothing to do! However Queenstown is a very varied place. Price and I found a really good sweet shop which gave free fudge tasting is always a hit in our book so as you can imagine, we went back a few times.....On the Friday evening we went to go see Oceans 13 which wasn't half bad. Running into Laura and Ed (Friends from the North Island) on Saturday it turned out that they were in our hostel and that the rugby (we are now big all blacks fans) was on in the evening. As the hostel didn't have sky sports (we discovered this after buying a crate of beer....) we had to go find a bar (the kick off was at 1 in the morning) but before that Price, Ed and I played a range of drinking games, with beer! Anyway Saturday evening found us in a pool bar watching the match till 3 in the morning, a great time had by all! Sunday was much of the same, do little during the day apart from venture to the supermarket (and sweetshop/fergburger) before going out in the evening. First to Fergburger (i had the big al, Price the bombay chicken) with Jens (another Friend from the north island) before making our way over to the World Bar. The world bar is basically the place to go as they serve cocktails out of teapots! Jens Price and I sampled the whole menu before some of Jens friends turned up. After spending a while chatting to them we made our way back over to the Buffalo Club for many a beer/game of pool before a hunt for chips started about 1 in the morning. Ed managed to find deep fried Lasagne which was a slight bit weird but rather tasty!
Next day found us back on the bus over to Christchurch. Although there was amazing scenery, sleeping was more important so the 7 hour journey went rather quickly. On our bus was no one we knew apart from Sarah and Amy from the south island bus so at least we could talk to someone! Got into Christchurch around 5ish, checked into our rooms, killed a while on internet and tv before going to find food (Pizza and a beer, very reasonable price as well!) and then going to the Saints and Sinners bar to watch Sweet As, a very good live band! The next morning saw us up and about by 1ish to sample the delights of Christchurch. After the 20 minute exhilirating tram ride we went through the shopping district, not really finding much but managing to spend over an hour in a music shop (bond was on a tv so i was happy) After starbucks (it was freezing) and more looking around it was back to the hostel where we caught round 1 of Henman's epic with Moya. After running to Burger King for Dinner (were we ran into Ed and Laura) we went back to the Saints and Sinners to play pool and watch Sweet As again (who weren't as good as the night before, still very good though!) That was Christchurch, fun!
Wednesday morning saw a semi early start, we had to check out by 10 so couldn't really lie in! After catching the shuttle over to the airport (seeing some of Jen's friends who we ran into in Queenstown) we flew over to Sydney on a great flight with the most annoying kid in front of us. Mummy (passed to mummy)...no i want daddy (passed to daddy).....i want mummy (passed back) MAKE UP YOUR STUPID 3 YEAR OLD MIND!!?!?!?! Anyway, got into Sydney with Price getting stopped through customs for his juggling balls (luckily filled with something that isn't seed) before meeting up with Caroline. Came back to the house and settled in, babysitting for the night whilst slowly making our way through the incredible dvd collection they have here! Thursday was a day of rest and we were looking after the 4 month old king charles spaniels as well so had to stay in......and watch films. Stephen (my uncle) was slightly horrified that we hadn't made it out the house but it is always nice to have a day of nothingness! Friday was basically the same (more films......puppies) but Rory and Lucy have now finished school for the winter so slight bit more ammusement. Also Caroline had the plasterer turn up at 9 so we had to vacate our room! Price managed to get out for a run though, so at least one of us has made it out into Sydney. Today I made it out into the world as we visited Lunar Park, something that can only be described as the Sloe Fair but safer (well someways not.....) After riding the Wild Mouse, sliding down the slides on mats in Coney Island and going on the dodgems numerous times it was time to go home. Caroline took us on a bit of a narrated tour through the suburbs of Sydney, stopping off at a beach to have a bit of a run around.
And there we are, caught up again. Should be seeing more of Sydney in the next few days before starting to make our way up the coast on Wednesday. Hope all is well with everyone back home. Thanks to my parents for the political update, Brown has really taken a hatchett to the cabinet!? Lets hope they can actually do a job now.......shame about Henman as well, but i wouldn't be wimbledon without him losing.
Speak to you all soon! Home in 5 weeks, time has flown so quickly!
