After a refreshing breakfast (no fried fish in sight!), we were on the bus and heading back to a Hanoi. After a very bumpy 3 hours, we arrived at a small restaurant for lunch, which alas consisted mainly of deep fried fish. it was quite funny though, as we tried to chat to the Koren couple from our group, but dure to the language barrier, there were quite afew misunderstandings as we left the restaurant, with them firmly believing that we all had a degree in Laos, as opposd to having a degree in Law and would be heading to Laos next! Not much later we were back in the hustle and bustle of Hanoi. Having had our fill of authentic 'Vietnamese cuisine', we decided on dinner at a cosy english pub, complete with board games on the tables, while you ate. With the bar having such a good atmosphere, we decided to stay for a few drinks, and got chatting to 3 guys on the next table, 2 of which, lo and behold, had gone to Leeds Uni as well!! With the bar slowly emptying, we decided to head off to pastures new and located the local 'Red Door" bar, only to be recoginsed moments later by the owner of the bar, who had partied with us at the Sailing Clubin Nha Trang! With the drinks flowing, we seemingly lost track of time, which had now gone far past the 11.30pm curfew imposed on the whole oif the country. We got quite a shock however, when moments later, the police barged the door, cdressed in full military regalia firing their tazer guns!! After a heated conversation with the owner, they promptly left and the music resumed, although much quieter than before. it was only when we emerged later on, as a creepy figure emerged from behind a bin on the other side of the street, that from the outside the place appeared completely shut up, with no lights on and the shutters down. Quite clearly, the establishment was running completely above board....or maybe not?! From here we moved onto 'Red Dragon, where we added 3 boys from Cheshire to our gang and set off in search of the only nightclub in Hanoi. after a pretty long walk, and one of the boys deciding to put sarah in the bin(!!) we realised that the club was closed and we were pretty far out of town. with that, the whole group set off at a full on sprint back towards home!!!
