Well I decided to stay at the fernloft hostel, 4 bed dorm as I'm now use to no sleep and speaking to all folk!!! Just met vectra from Indonesia who is taking me out to meet her Italian friend! When she asked me if I had a compass, I thought she meant map, however she then told me she needed to know which way is west as she had to pray. God iPhones have everything!
Well it doesn't look much from the outside but it's clean and very friendly, there's a bar downstairs n it's full of English rugby supporters!
Well pleased, jus found out I'm only allowed 1 open packed of cigarettes in n I managed to get thru wiv 400, happy days! I heard him shout cigarettes n I jus scuttled off.
Vectra is lovely, we went out to meet her Italian and singaporian friends by the Marina and wow is everything expensive! $13, £7.50 for the tiniest wine Eva.Her great friends paid for dinner which was extremely nice! Everyone here speaks English in general, it's rather strange!
Apparently they have the worlds first Louis vuitton shop here which is pure glass and built on water so may check it out later!
Singapore is not how I expected it to be! There are a lot of high rise housing blocks and I have just been informed I am staying on reclaimed land which means they have bought sand from Malaysia to make the country bigger and they also have more plans for development, interesting! There are massive public parks which are kept very neat and tidy and each street gets cleaned every night!
Oh yeah and it's so clean, if you get caught dropping a cigarette end, it's £150 fine, if ur stupid enuf to get caught for the second time, it's 4 hours community service, sweeping the street! Singapore currently operates the death penalty for murder and drug offences!
Just driving past the Singapore flyer, their version of the London eye! Singapore is so small, it's often referred to as a city state, only takes bout 40 mins drive from one side to the other! Raffles is the founder of Singapore which is why many things are named after it such ad the famous hotel, a hospital, a business district etc!
7/11s are still a common site here and the MRT (mass rapid transit) system is often used to commute! Apparently England use to own Singapore approx 50 years ago and I have noticed many English style buildings whilst on the way to the paragon shopping centre!
Jus sat at a tiawanese restaurant and marco is paying, yet again! Such a nice guy, set his own steel business up in Italy last year and already has approx 20 branches across the world! Keeping with the restaurant theme, we were discussing Chinese star signs and I have been lovingly informed that I am a 'pig' ha, met some great people tonite!!!
This place is such a contrast to the rest of Asia with it's Armani shops on one corner n D&G on the next, jus need loads a dollar!!!
