Day 11
Wednesday 12 Aug
1705
We left early and headed to a fortress just on the Bulgaria side of Romania. The Fortress was awesome. It was an old Bulgarian fort used to try and hold off the Turks. But was only a bandaid fix. We had lunch at the bottom of the hill and then set off to Romania.
The tour ended at the mall where a majority of us ended up eating at a Romanian restaurant. The food was good but paying the bill was a pain in the ass and I ended up paying about an extra 20 funny money for my meal to make sure we had enough. The beers were cheap though. 6.50 funny money, about 1.5Eu each.
A few of us had decided to find a pub and go have a few drinks. This included, morgan, his lisa, other lisa, George and Alex. I had run out of my own funny money so I had to borrow another 40ish from Lisa. I hate not having enough money, from now on i'm withdrawing more then enough as to not run out regardless of weather I can or cannot change it back into Euros.
Day 12
Thursday 13 Aug
1705
Today started off quickly. I woke up at 6 after about 2 maybe 3 hours sleep and was edgy so I went for a run Along the run I thought I was going to get attacked by an old lady. She was crazy, holding a bag in one hand and waving an apple around in the air with the other while semi shouting at me.
Back at the hotel we had breaky and jumped on the bus. We went through the Presidential Palace today and walked literally past where I'de been the previous night. The palace was magnificent with massive rooms, fantastic Chandelleirs, massive rugs everywhere and 100,000tonnes of marble making up the structure.
1100 (14Aug)
Yesterday finished off fairly uneventful. We arrived at the campsite at about 7 set up and had to be in the Restaurant. George and I had upgraded for 7 euros we didn't have to sleep in a tent, we had our own cabin. The cabin only had a double bed so it was one side each. We dumped our gear and went to grab a couple of beers. I was halfway through the first one when steph stepped out of her tent in her running gear. I really felt like a run, so I convinced her to give me 2 minutes and went to get changed.
We went out the campsite and headed right along the road and right again towards a massive hill. We half ran half walked up a track we found. It was steep, steeper then a set of steps and quite muddy in spots but the view was incredible. We got about half way up when the track ran out and the shrubs became pretty dense. We had to head back towards the campsite anyway if we wanted to go for tea. The run down the hill was equally if not harder then the run up the hill but we were back well in time for tea.
Day 13
Friday 14 Aug
1145
Today started really well Georges alarm went off at 620, 3 hours after we got to bed and I was feeling pretty average. I went to the toilet and started to feel a bit better and stepped off for a run. I went up the same hill but a different path to yesterday. I wasn't running with steph, so there was no stopping and waiting for her to catch up. As a result I was b*****ed by the time I got the the hight that we had easily reached the day befor hand, I spent the next 15 minutes mostly walking up the hill. I'd taken my camera too this time and the views were fantastic. Again the run down was hardeer then the run/walk on the way up and by the time I got back to camp an hour after I stepped off I was b*****ed.
I was ready a lot befor every1 else so I helped Kay in the kitchen doing random chores annd toasting bread. Breaky was quick and we were on the bus and out of there at 09. First we went into Brasov. This town was really nice and a group of us went only for a coffee and then it was back on the bus less then an hour later.
On the way out of Brasov the bus pulled aside and letty stood up and said something which I didn't really pick up and said to get off the bus. We walked over to a massive Brasov sign where all the girls proceeded to take there bras off. As you do. The 6 of us guys furiously snapped away with the handfulls of cameras we'de been given.
0830
After leaving Brasov yesterday we drove until lunch where we had lunch at Sighasoara, the alleged birth place of Dracula. On the top of the hill in the centre of the town is one of the most preserved medievil villiages in Europe, it was Fantastic.
We pulled into camp at about 19. After setting up the cook tent and our personel tents I went for a run. I started down the highway, as there wasn't much other choice. Trucks flying by less then 2 m away was pretty hairy but after about a k of that I got closer to the town we camped near and there was a footpath on the side of the road.
About 2 k's in to the run it went downhill, metaphorically. I inhaled a bug and was coughing slash dry wretching for a good 30 seconds. I never quite recovered, that coupled with me having no food in my stomach and the fact that about 3k's from home I started to desperately need a toilet made the whole experience not very pleasant. .
Dinner followed, in the dark, the boys had grabbed beers for us too. At first we had one called Redd, which had charamel in it. It was pretty nice, but too sweet to be a beer. After tea myself Wayne and George just went up to the bars for a few quiet ones. Everyone else had run out of Romanian funny money and had gone too bed. We soon followed at about 1130.
