We're in Brno, a town in the Czech Republic, we're stopped over in the middle of the trip to Prague. I really should be sleeping but i'm too pumped about getting to Prague man it's gonna be awesome.
After getting home this morning, at 840 I packed my bags and ate the last of the pasta that was ion the stove. Neither Danny nor Martinez liked it, I thought it was ok, but I reckon any form of sustenance is good.
I got on the tram and went into the city. I wanted to try and get one of the neck pillows for the ride tonight but the only one I found was 10 Euros so I passed and just went to work. Work was ok, I was just a bit tired, nothing like wednesday though.
I had lunch again with the Girls at 1130, After that I finished getting ready for Prague and we left work at 145, 15 minutes late, good one girls. Ioanna's a crack up so much stuff she does is funny, She'd forgotton her tickets this tiime!! so she had to buy more, she also somehow managed to lose a jumper somewhere inbetween work and the trainstation.
We got on the train and I wrote in my diary/half slept for about half an hour. I quit that I slept for a good couple of hours. We arrived at Vienna at 530 and had an hour to kill before our bus. I was still pretty intent on getting a neck pillow so I went in search of one of those, i'd all but given up and I decided to try a bookstore. I dont know why, I asked for the pillow and she said "ah" and bent down behind the counter "we have these for our customers" she said and I got a freebie.
I had so much fun last night. I love this city. I'm sitting in a cafe now just near the astronomical clock. I This town is so beautiful, I just found an Australian Pub and they're showing the grandfinal in a fortnight so there's a good chance I might be back.
The bus ride in alst night was pretty uneventful. I just slept slash sweating for much of the second half after being ovvupied with a movie for the first half. From the train station we got dropped off at I went and bought the girls some tickets, as id managed to exchange for some Krown at the stop over. I left them and jumped in a cab, after getting the first cab to the four seasons near charles bridge I found the address of the hostel i'm staying at and got another there, I could have possibly caught trams around but I just wanted to hurry up and get over to where andrew was staying and get into the night. It was already midnight by the time I got to the hostel and time was a wasting.
The taxi ride from my hostel to Andrew's was a crack up. It was a female driver and she was drinking beer. Czech's have the highest drinking rate of beer in the world so I should hardly be surprised. This lady was by far the best female driver i''d seen in my life, she absolutely owned the roads, hardy was she ever driving less then 50 miles per hour and changing 3 lanes at once was no problem for this speed demon.
At andrews we went into the bar at his hostel for a quick drink, his hostel seems pretty sweet, really modern but still cool. From there we were going to a club not far away. I'd sent out some couch surfing requests for the weekend but I hadn't got any replies that were credible, however one girrl did tell me about a big couchsurfing.org organised party that night, so we set off for the club where that was supposed to happen.
The bar was cool but just full of blokes so we caught a cab into the city. We went and grabbed a pork sausage. It was awesome, so much better then the thing i'd had 2 weeks ago that just burnt my mouth. The plan was to mosey on down past the underground bar i'd been at a few weeks ago and then onto the 5 story club.
We finally got to the 5 story club, it was about 3 by the time we got there, yet the line was non existant, upon entry not only did we get frisked but we got waved over with a metal detector, I just walked in there full of confidence slash dutch courage and got waved over. It beeped over both my pockets and he just scrunched them. Satisfied that I wasn't carrying a knife or a gun he let me through.
I'm sitting outside the Museum waiting for andrew. I finally got hold of him, the baseball was supposed to start half an hour ago, He was sounding pretty worse for wear when I finally did get through to him, i'm looking forward to hearing this story.
I love prague so much, this city is awesome, again i'm sitting in a cafe writing in my diary, just watching the world go by. Lifes good.
Yesterday was so much fun I had an absolute ball. By 12 ii still hadn't heard from andrew, I was kinda a bit worried, it wasn't until well after 12 that he finally called me, he's been distracted by an Italian girl that he'd met. Fair enough I guess. The base ball was supposed to start at 1230, I met andrew at the metro station at about 1 and we got to the game at about 230.
The first game was Australia vrs mexico, andrew being a big base ball fan was getting quite into it. The funny thing too was that no one around us spoke english. Australia lost the baseball 9-10 which was disappointing however we still good fun and we left after the 1st innings of the second game, Czechs vrs "China Taipai", I dunno how the former works!!
Andrew was pretty keen to get back to his hostel to have a shower and to have a swim, I went and met the girls for dinner, they'de been shopping all day and we met after I circled around the wrong gothic tower for 15 minutes looking for them. One of there friends was with them and she took the 5 of us to a czech restaurant, where I had a mexican salad. Most of the time Ionna, the greek, and I just sat there staring at the girls while they went at a million miles an hour at each other in macedonian, it is a vicious sounding language these 5 foot tall girls sounded like they were discussing dis-embowelment when they were probably discussing there food, I dread to think about what alexander the great's armies sounded like mid battle.
After I left I walked back to my hostel, this city is so awesome and i'm loving just taking a different route and walking rather then catching the metro. I sat in my room for 20 minutes waiting for some french a****** to get out of the shower.
I grabbed a beer for the walk into the city, the plan was to meet Andrew at 845 before the pub crawl starting at 915, there was some sort of fun run on and the place was absolutely packed so an alternate RV was organised. Andrew was running late, he'd met some Aussie girls in the pool and invited them and had to wait. Again I guess this is excusable.
Andrew finally rocked up at almost 930 with two aussies, a girl called Jodie from sydney; a balet dancer, he also brought along a bloke he'd met a carptenter from melbourne, called jay, he was a crack up and I spent half the night dribbling rubbish with him while andrew tried to work his way on Jodie in vane.
We were approached by both the pub crawl groups I was pretty keen to go on the same one as a few weeks ago but the other one sounded fairly good too and was much much more balanced interms of a gender ratio. We still went to the one from last time, except when we got there, there was about 90 guys and 5 girls, not a fun looking place, we still hung around for the guys introduction and again it was good value.
One of the tours that was there was staying at the same hostel as Andrew, jay and Jodie so they knew a lot of the people there. We just talked about crap, both Jodie and Jay were interested in Couch surfing and I was spruiking it. was talking to one girl from a top deck tour there she was a kiwi called janette, pretty cool, was doing the same tour I did and had all the same complaints and likes that I had about the tour.
We left the 2nd bar a little late and lost the rest of the crawl. I ran back to the bar and asked them if they knew where the crawl went, they did and pointed me in the direction of a bar called double trouble, it took us ages to get there and after asking many people for directions we ended up at the bar where Andrew and I had had a couple drinks in the night befor, pretty stoked at having found the crawl we went in and grabbed some beers, it took us half an hour but we eventually realised that no one from the crawl was there. I grabbed the flyer and tried sending a text to the number explaining that we were on the crawl and lost the group. The reply I got was one word, "arena" a bar very close so we went there and met up with the rest of the group. When I told the others how I texted the crawl to find where we were going they thought it was hilarious.
I'm sitting in a cafe (with some awesome music, I really want to go dancing again) with the macedonians and one of Sandra's other friends, yet another gorgeous Macedonian, no idea on the name had no Idea how to pronounce it. We're sitting having coffee and beer. They're talking in Macedonian at a million miles an hour so i'm on the net and writing my diary, rather then staring at the wall trying not to fall asleep. When we were at dinner sandra answered a message on her phone and spoke directly to Hristina, it sounded like we are going to another place with nice music and chicken wings. When I replied she looked at me like I was an alien she was talking in macedonian and I totally misunderstood it.
I set my alarm for 10 oclock so that I could be sure to be out befor the check out time, I wasn't sure when It was but figured midday was as good as any, I got down to the reception at 1040 and was glad for it, breaky was until 11 and it was so good, I smuggled some
I'm never trusting the girls to get me anywhere on time again ever. We've just got on the bus back to Vienna and with all the stars aligning and trains meeting up we got to our bus 6 minutes befor it was due to leave. 1 train delay and we would have missed our bus.
I quit writing befor so abruptley as I thought we were getting kicked out of the bar we were in, the guy was closing except we were sitting in the courtyard and he just asked us to close the door on the way out, and we ended up sitting there for another half an hour before leaving, shutting the door on the way out.
Ok, so I smuggled some food into my bag from breakfast for later and left soon after walking into town to find a cafe and wireless. I found one pretty quickly and sat down on the wifi, I was still floating and I sat there for almost 2 hours, writing in my diary and drinking 2 coffees.
I left there and walked through town, I walked upto the museum and to a park nearby. I lay there listening to my Ipod, sleeping for about an hour being woken by a homeless guy asking for money.
This is too hard, i'm going to sleep.
After I woke up in the park I sat up and played my harmonica for about 20 mins, going over some basic tunes I know and doing a bit of improv over whatever song was on my ipod, most songs are in C major so it's really easy to play along too.
I didn't want to sleep in the park while I was in Prague so I left and went towards the city, messaged the girls and arranged to meet them at the astronomical clock. They had with them one of Sandra's friends, a guy whose working as an engineer just out of town yet originally is from macedonia. He was a crack up, I spent much of the next half hour talking to him while the girls spent there money on crap souveniers. His laugh was a crack up, it was so genuine, there's no way you could fake a laugh like his and not mean it.
We went and met some of Sandra's other friends, a girl from Slovenia and her sister. I missed the introduction to them, It didn't matter though the names would have been well lost anyway. We went and sat down at a restaurant for lunch, at 430 in the afternoon, acutally it was probably closer to 5.
The waitress came out and I asked for a beer, she asked if I wanted light beer, I said no, she asked dark beer, again I said no, lager. So u want light beer she said. I checked with the girls that I wasn't going to get a non-alcoholic beer and agrees on the light.
We sat in the restaurant for ages, I had 3 macedonians going at each other in macedonian on my left and three slovenians going at each other in Slovenian on the right. The last three nights partying had well and truly caught up with me by now, so I was happy to stare blankly at the tv screen anyway.
We left the restaurant closer to 6 to go and meet another one of Sandra's friends, another macedonian girl. Again gorgeous, she was dressed exactly like all the housers from back home and even walked like a dancer, I have no idea what she does though as they mainly exchanged words in macedonian while I played the stunned mullet. We all walked around for about half an hour while the girls struggled to make up there minds (as girls do) as to weather to goto a cafe for coffee or to find a bar fro beer, we came past a bar that was playing a song I liked and I put my foot down and said all right in here.
This place was pretty cool, it had Wifi too so I was able to use the internet and type my diary while the girls spoke to each other, maybe the language barrier in this case was a good thing, I probably wouldn't have cared much for what they were talking about anyway.
About half an hour after the bar closed and we let ourselves out, the barman had left us in the courtyard and just asked that we locked the door on our way out. We went to meet yet another of Sandra's friends, another macedonian. I dont know what it is with Balkan / Eastern European girls, are they all gorgeous or is it just that they all fit into a "novel" category, I was talking to Andrew about it the other day, wondering if the local guys thought that all the girls were pretty or if they only thought anything for half of them and think that all western looking girls are gorgeous?
The then took us to a bar callep Chapue, we sat there drinking for about 2 hours, one of Sandra's friends friends rocked up too. I guy who was obviously trying to impress the friend of Sandra. His mum is a czech and his dads from lebannon, I spoke to him for a bit about the arab language and about the local area, he spoke no macedonian and I think was kinda releived to have an english speaker to talk to. He was a bit of a dick though, I soon realised that he was probably no more interested in just trying to get into the pants of Sandra's friend, she seemed pretty dumb founded by the bloke too, poor girl.
By the time we were leaving I was falling asleep standing up. I was so tired, we left and headed towards a train station, via a sausage shop, these sausages are great, they really really hit the spot. We jumped on the metro and Sandra and I got off at a station near her friends while Hristina and magdelina went on a nother stop to grab Hristina's stuff. The plan was for Sandra and Hristina to pack their stuff at their respective locations and to meet at the house where sandra was staying. This house was a 2 minute walk from the station, and we had to walk past one of the oddest churches i'd ever seen. I was a huge white building, quite cubic in shape with a massi e clock on it. If it didn't have a cross on the toop you'de swear it was a train station.
When Sandra and I got to her friends house she decided that she'd have a shower while we waited for Hristina to get there. I crashed on the couch while she did this, occaisionally waking to a new macedonian face entering the lounge room talking to one of the friends who was studying for an upcoming exam.
We finally left at 1130, we had just over half an hour to catch 2 metro trains to the main station where our bus was taking us from. We got there just in the nick of time, all the stars aligneing to make sure we didn't have to wait too long for either of the Metro's.
We got on the bus and I was talking to the girl who was sitting beside me, a hippie girl from country Czech republic who was on her way to Mexico to help poor indigenous people speak english amounngst a variety of other philanthrapic activities. International charity, what a crock of s***, in a country as stable as mexico I wonder how many of these cartel members have benefited from the aid of good people like the one I was sitting next to.
The bus left at 1215, I tried to write in my diary for a while but very quickly fell asleep.
The first half of this mornings bus ride I slept, well kinda, the chair backs aren't tall enough so to get something that supports my head I have to slouch which severely eachs into my leg space, I sorta tossed and turned for much of the next 2 hours, but they went pretty quickly and I woke up in a sweat as we were pulling into Brno, the half way point.
I went and grabbed a couple of drinks and got back on the bus, it was heaps more empty so I shifted to a spot where I could sit by myself. This was the best idea on the planet and I fell asleep befor the movie even started and I woke up as we were pulling into Vienna.
We walked over to the closest train station and got on the first train going in the right direction, we only had to go four stops and there were pleanty to choose from. I hated following the girls not knowing what was going on, i'm definitely not doing it again in a hurry.
We got on the train to Graz at 0555, we spread out and I typed in my diary for a while. I fell asleep at 630 and woke up at 0730 thinking it was 830 and that the train would be pulling into Graz soon, it didn't and I sat there with my eyes wide open not wanting to fall asleep for the next hour and a bit.
Both Sandra and I went straight to work. I felt ok and i'd left a clean shirt at work to put on when I get there.
