Day 9
Monday 10 Aug
1043
We jumped on the bus and took off. We we're driving for about 2.5 hours befor we stopped for a toilet break. I thought I was over the whole Delhi Belli, apparently not. Now were about 15 minutes from the Bulgarian Border border then another 400km's to Sophia

We're still on the bus. We're less then 100k's out now though so not much longer. The bus trip itself has been fairly uneventful. All of us newbies got up and did a little spiel about how cool we are. We also had to tell 3 stories, 2 true and 1 fake.

Yesterday finished off quite quickly, we got to the hotel, which is pretty ritzy and took our bags up to our rooms on the 17th floor. I'm sharing a room with George, the only other single guy on this trip. We dumped our stuff and went for a run. George took off pretty quickly and we turned around after about 15 minutes, we'de run downhill at a pretty fast pace and the run back took almost 20minutes.
That night dinner was at the hotel. The entree was a soup and the mains some chicken kebab things. One of the girls is Vegetarian and she got served up a bloke of deep fried cheese. I thought it was pretty good but no-one else really liked it. Dessert was a sultana strudle. Which was awesome. After dinner we headed up to the Terrace bar, we sat around until about 12 and then went to bed, I was prretty keen to go out on the town, but unfortunately no one wanted to join me.
Day 10

Today I woke up at 6, and started getting excited about nothing in particular again. I got up at 0630 and went for a run. At one point I was funning along parellelling a road and there was a fence on my right, out of no where a dog cam running up at me from the other side of the fence. It was fine because it was on the other side but I looked up and 30m later the fence ended and I would have been fair game. I just stood still waiting for the dog to hopefully calm down, this wasn't happening and I was starting to worry about how the hell I was supposed to get away. Eventually finally the dogs owner came and I was left to head home.
Breaky was provided by the Hotel but for 3.5Eu we could have upgraded to the full breakfast. I'm regretting not doing this as all we had was like 10 small slices of salami a piece of cheese and a fruit roll thing, not very hearty.
We had a walking tour this morning of Sophia, that was good, we got to see everything and wsa easy we just had to follow this bald guy called Bobby. That went from 930 till 12 and after that a few of us went to a restaurant called Happy Bar Grill. George and I had to sit a bit away from the girls as we didn't fit on their table. That was ok though as we had a different waiter, Anna, was gorgeous. We ordered our mains, I was getting a salad and some stir fry dish, Anna asked me if I wanted 2, I said yes thinking she meant 1, the salad and 2, the stirfry. This soon fell over when she brought out one salad and 2 stir fries for us.
We were also asking her where was good to go out, She mentioned a few places and gave us directions, she recommended one place called Sin city and said it was good, I asked if it gets busy in there, getting slightly defencive her reply was “no Sorry I am busy” She'd thought I'd propositioned her. I back pedelled pretty quickly and we got out of there.
We went and checked out the shops, I had to grab some socks as i'm pretty sure I left a coat hanger full of drying socks in Istanbull. George grabbed a camera to replace the one he'd lost in Istanbul and we grabbed a taxi and headed back to the hotel. The taxi driver was a crack up and spoke very little English.
The arvo's been chilled, Just had a quick gonk and working on this. Cant wait to go out tonight.
0616 (12Aug)
Last night was heaps of fun. The night started off as a bit of a shemozzle. We were split up and had to take 3 cabs. We told our taxi driver that we wanted to go to the Happy bar and Grill in the city centre. “city centre, City centre” he replied and off we went. He pulled over 15 minutes later not at the happy bar and grill and starts going “City centre, city centre”. I explained that we wanted the Happy bar and Grill and he told us that it was 2 km away and that we were at the city centre.
We got him to turn around and eventually he dropped us at the Happy bar and Grill. The only problem was as we discovered there were 2 happy bar and grills in town and we were at the wrong one. Two of the girls thought they knew the way so we set off walking. After asking a couple for directions we got to the right happy bar and grill 20 minutes later.
None of the other crew were anywhere to be seen. Letty Kate and brent were there though and they informed us that the others had realised our mistake and taken a cab to the Happy bar and grill we'de just walked from. Slightly demoralised we headed back to the first bar. We went a slightly different way back as we were pretty sure we'de gone the long way and 40 minutes after leaving the place we again walked through the front door to find the others sitting at a table.
The Grill was a bit more of a family restaurant type place so we decided to leave and head for studentski grand, the area where all the night clubs were. Everywhere was dead, we'de got out at a place called Jim beam bar, but decided to try another place called dancing club just down the road. I was pretty sure it was a strip club but the girls were pretty intent on dancing. Fortunately it wasn't open yet so we headed back to the Jim beam bar.
This place was an experience, upon walking through the door we were imediately frisked by a walking castle. Inside it was dead so we grabbed a round of drinks and sat down. It was then that I realised that i'd lost a heap of my money and had none of the local currency left, so my night was pretty much over.
