Kya Travels
I was the only one to wake up early enough for breakfast this morning, then after that i bought a juice for Darren and I then we (and Flo and Pancho) packed up our bags and went to check out. We left our bags at reception with Maria, then while we were waiting for Nuno to come meet us, we had a good chat and a laugh with Maria. We had made up a song using one of our only Portuguese words (obrigado - thank you), which was funny and we were all dancing around and singing it while we waited! (Even Maria!) When Nuno got there, we walked down the street to a little cafe for lunch where they specialized in pies and did a good deal for two pies, salad, rice and a drink. I got a mushroom and a spinach and cheese pie, and they were the most delicious things ever!! So so so good!! When I wasn't eating, I was trying with a knife to get the label off that bottle of wine we had with dinner the other night! It was a long slow process but I eventually got it off! Yay! When we were finished, the lady that worked there gave us a free dessert each! I got a chocolate cake kind of thing, which was pretty much chocolate with chocolate and chocolate, topped with chocolate! My kind of dessert! Then we went for a walk to the big city park down the street a bit where we bought some super bocks (beers), and had a bit of a jam session on the stage there! The stage was a semi circle built to amplify sounds, so we had fun finding the sweet spots on the stage! We also bought some caipirinhas, which is a Portuguese drink with rum, sugar, soda and lime, and because we bought three, we got a free hat and a Hawaiian lei! We played some music for a while on the stage, and got some applause too, and we even wrote a song together about super bocks which we recorded. It was so much fun! After a while (and a few more beers) we left the stage and wandered down to the other end of the park, where we got some amazing views over the river and surrounding area. It was awesome! Then we found another little temporary stage and played a bit more music! We were joined by some random guy who came up and played some cool covers (radiohead, nirvana etc), and then sent his girlfriend to go back to their place and get his tuner for him! It wasn't until she had gone that we realised where she went... Darren and I both have tuners on our phones! Oops! So we hung out with him a bit longer, drinking beers, playing music, exchanging songs on our iPods and enjoying the weather, and eventually the girl came back with the tuner... About an hour later! So by that time we only had time for a quick jam with them before we had to head back and get our train! We walked back to the hostel via an eclair shop where we got a chocolate eclair each, then picked up our bags and said goodbye to Maria before heading to the metro. Pancho was sad to be leaving as he had a bit of a sweet spot for lovely Maria!! So we went down to the metro and made our way to the main train station where we all (except Nuno) bought some tickets to Lisbon then went across the road to grab something to eat before getting on the train. We ordered some sandwiches and by the time they all came out, we had to literally grab what we had left and run back over to the train station where we said a very quick 'see you later' to Nuno and jumped on the train! We shared another beer together on the train and I spent most of the ride feeling travel sick and we all just chilled out. Eventually we arrived in Lisbon and got off the train and went to get into a cab, when the boys realised they didn't have their hostels address written down anywhere! Crazy kids! So after asking all the cab drivers if anyone knew where it was, I turned on my cellular data ($$$!!!) and looked it up. We jumped in the cab and dropped off the guys to their hostel before heading out to ours. We checked in, which was a bit of a mission, as the hostel was in a big apartment building and we had to get buzzed in, then there was a weird thing going on with the lifts, but we eventually got up there and checked in, then chilled out in the common room for a while before we went to bed. We tried to watch some TV, but couldn't get it to work, so we just chilled on the wifi for a bit. I was talking to Tiana online, and she was telling me how Lachie had had a big party while mum and dad were in Bali and had punched the floor or something and shattered his wrist! What a crazy! I also posted a picture of one of those stick on tattoos that I had put on that day, and totally tricked her into thinking it was real! Hahaha! Might leave that hanging for a bit, for a laugh... After a while, we were extremely b*****ed so snuck into the dorm and went to sleep.
