hey people sorry for late blog entry.
I have finished my first semester in Australia and had a cosy, cold and lovely Christmas holiday in Norway, and now i am hedding back down to Brisbane:)
But first some travelling.
My first stop in the way is London, England since i have never been there before i thought it would be a great place to go and my good friend Hedvig also wanted to come, so we came here and met at the hotel Piccolino in the paddington area 9th of January 2010:D
I landeed at Heathrow after some circling over the city in the air, waiting for permission to land(always a bit enoying:P)
The first day the weather was great and we could check in to the hotel around 1.30, after that we located the nearest subway and had lunch:)
Later that day we went to Noting hill and saw the markets there, i also met Hannah there who was my flatmate in Brisbane for 6 weeks the 1 semester:D she showed us some of london and we walked around in Hyde park and checked out Harrods and finally had some dinner at Hard Rock Cafe:D:D
The second day we did some touristing:) Got very familiar with the subway and figured out a day pass would quickly pay off, so we got our hands on that and headed down to London Dungeon.
They apperently did not open until 1030 on sundays so we took a coffee while we waited, then we tried the horror show/tour of London dungeon, which was a little scary but great.(why people bring young kids to an almost 2 hour scary tour where they scare you alot beats me...off course they start to cry and think it is horrible:S)
After a shave at Sweeney Todds and a meeting with Jack the ripper we had take some obligatoric fotos of Tower bridge and walk across it:)
Beautiful Bridge, looks excactly like my 3D puzzle:P
Then we headed up towards a round building that stands out in the skyline to figure out it is nothing but offices there and no way to get up in it:( bummer...
After alot of walking to find that building we could not enter we decided to get some Burger King lunch and really wanted one, but we did not find any in that area and had to settle for McDonalds:P
Later that day we walked up and down oxford street checked and checked out some stores:)
After some relaxing at the hotel we went to a oub in the local area and had a dinner, then we went to another pub for some drinks. here we tried a new beer or what turned out to be a cider:P so we left there bought some beers and went back to the hotel after the pub closed.
Today i woke up in a cold hotelroom which btw havent gotten any warmer since we came even tough the oven has been on all the time:S(and the bathroom is very small, but a very okay room for what we payd, and good breakfast:)
We had pre booked the london big bus tour for 48 hours and started that today:)
the bus was okay and you get to see alot, however it was very cold to sit on top! frooze all the time!, probably a very great tour in the summer:)
We went to see Big Ben and the parlament. tried to get to number 10 downing street. but according to the guard the street had been closed for 20+ years so i had to just see the black door from afar...
then we decided the bus was to cold to go any further so we bought another day pass on the underground and went to the monument. ther we climbed up and down 311 steps one way(circle staircase) (got a little dissy there), and after testing out our leg muscles we decided to have lunc at McDonalds again, then we went to tkts and got som tickets for We Will Rock You. After some shopping at Primark we went back to the hotell, relaxed a little and went to a dinner next to the teather.
then in the evening we saw the musical We Will Rock You, this was a totally remarkable experience, and worth every penny! had a great time and realised i love queen music! definetively recommendable:)
tomorrow and the next days we are going to see the guard change at buckingham palace, maybe visit 221b baker street, and maybe some museums:)
so until next time...
