The sole objective of this trip was to experience the fluffy snow... Those cool looking trees when snow befall them.. Those fashion boots, coats and ear muffs... Those warm fireplaces and street foods...
So we set our feet to the land of kimchi and halyu star.. We took premium seat of airasiaX which we loved immensely..!
When we reached seoul, the temperature was around 1deg C... It was freezing cold!! But since it was our first day and first time seeing the road covered in powdery snow, we braced the chill and found our guest house..! Yea!!
We stayed at pencil guesthouse (I) - they have 2 other branches.. For the first night we stayed at pencil guesthouse (II)..
Anyw since we were pretty 'unprepared' for the trip, we decided that the first day in seoul was to hit Myeong Dong to get extra piece of coat, stockings, etc..
Myeong Dong is a different shopping experience.. Very pretty n neat rows of shops.. Clothing lines, cosmetic lines, shoes, and accessories... One day is definitely NOT enough to roam the whole Myeong Dong!
We decided to brave the language barrier and tried to bargain there.. Guess what..?! Most of the shopkeepers are multilingual. You can determine their skills by the badge they wear.. Some can speak fluent chinese (they may be china citizen working in korea, btw), some are fluent in konglish (korean english) and some are fluent in Japanese... Simply easy to part with Won in Myeong Dong.. Haha!
There are also many cozy restaurants which may be pretty steep.. As such, we tried eating at one of the small shop located on the 2nd level. We were very pleasantly urprised that 6000won can fill our stomach with Heaps of korean ramen, bbq-ed pork, kimchi and rice.. The koreans seem to be big eaters and with that in mind, we usually buy 2-3 portion to be shared between the 4 of us..
By the first day, we had already parted with a third of our Won in exchange with beauty equipment to last through winter.. Such as moisturizer, masks, body lotion, which surprisingly helpful to soothe our scaled-by-winter skin.. =p totally worth it.. And by that first day, we already vowed we are oing back to hit myeong dong soon!
We ended the day taking a flight to Jeju island.. ^__^
