Stacey, being all gung-ho and all decided that she was gonna try to do the evil "E" word, which she hates to even mention, while on this cruise...Exercise!
So, she got up to a 5:25am alarm and was out the cabin door by 5:45am for a brisk 4 lap walk on the Deck 4 running track. 3 Laps around = 1 mile. I think she managed 3 laps before she got turned back by maintenance workers who had blocked off part of the track. Points for effort!
I was surprised she didn't wake me to go too. I had wanted to. She said I didn't tell her that I did. Well, sure, maybe not out loud, but I'm sure I thought it! What good is it being married 10 years if she doesn't know what I'm thinking! I'm blaming her for my not getting up to exercise. Its all good though. I was tired and really needed the sleep. It's ok, honey, I forgive you. =)
Time for a quick breakfast and out off the ship to meet my Uncle Harry at 9am.
Harry toured us around Victoria for some pictures. Beautiful city, that Victoria, and he knows all the great spots it seems. We go for a coffee break and some catching up chatting then head to his place to meet his lovely wife, Edith. She's busy prepping for their trip to Europe, but it was wonderful meeting her. Took a few pictures together before Harry dropped us off to see my gramma Giguere at her newly arrived at care home in Victoria, Beckley Farm Lodge.
Spent a few minutes with her and my aunt Judy. Gramma was forgetting that I don't speak french and she seemed to forget how to speak english, so Judy translated for us. Not sure my gramma recognised me at first, but by the time we left she did and had remembered how to speak english too. Judy was a little emotional seeing me and meeting Stacey for the first time. She's just how I remember her, but it was good to see her as well. Nice bonus we were not expecting.
We walk from the care home back to our ship, not that far at all, to see it's been joined in port by the Carnival Miracle cruise ship.
We go in and get set for our appointment to try a brief mixology class. One canadian guy in the group was already blasted before we started trying drink samples. Little obnoxious and loud, but that's drunks for you I guess. I didn't finish my drinks. I'm not a drinker and the taste of the 5 samples I did have was enough to give me a buzz. Stacey didn't finish her's either, but she was fine. Some people got poured extra EXTRA strong drinks as they tried to recreate what the bartenders had done. Wow. I'd be wrecked trying to drink what they had.
The mixology went long and we had to rush to catch the start of Guardians of the Galaxy at 5:30pm, skipping the Golden Mickeys Musical show that'd we'd seen 3 years earlier on the ship.
Tried to stand up after the movie and I felt wobbly. Had I had too much to drink? I didn't think so, the slight buzz had only lasted a minute or two, which is why I stopped.
The answer? The ship had left Victoria around 2:45 and had gotten around Vancouver Island's protection and into the open Pacific where a 19 knot wind was rocking the ship. The same thing happened 3 years ago. This time, however, the waves looked rather calm from the10th deck. No large whitecaps, but we're swaying our way down south.
Off to our 8:15 dinner for some beef tenderloin and Stacey again has the salmon. Both excellent. But now the ship is rocking, which tires us both out and makes us head for bed around 9:30pm.
End of Day 2.
WYYH! (without the sickly rocking motion, ugh)
Kim =) and Stacey :)
