kristy's travels
hello everyone!
well after a couple of days shopping we ventured out to Rottnest Island........................home to the famous Quokkas (and lots of roaming peacocks!)! apparently when the island was discovered captain cook said it was full of rats!................but these little cuties are way better than that! they are more like minature kangaroos and although they are wild you can actually stroke them (and feed them lots of chips, even though you're not meant too.........whoops!!) we started the morning with gorgeous healthy mango smoothies followed by a nice healthy.....................fry up!!!! yay!!!!
anyway, the best way to see the island is by bike.............which sounds fairly harmless....................that is unless you have to pull a six year old girl in a bright yellow trailer!!!! one way to put you off having kids, thats for sure!!
breeze started off on her own bike but there where alot of hills. she managed to go down hill really well but as for going up.................well she got a bit worried when she was too tired to peddal and found herself rolling backwards down the hill again!
thinking it would be good exercise i decided to pull her along behind me in a kiddies trailer! unfortunately it was a bit more difficult than i expected....................and i swear the gears on my bike weren't working properly! hmmmm!
well after getting a bit stroppy, hot and red-faced i realised that peddaling wasn't going to work so i decided to try a new technique.......................go as fast as you possibly can down hill and hope to make it up the other side!
well i sure went fast down those hills! as i overtook everyone else i thought i had it sussed........but no.............10 mins later as i pushed my bike up to the top of the hill towards mummy and tiff i realised that i need to marry a man with strong legs when i have kids!
Rottnest island is amazing and i would recommend it to anyone.................the weather was gorgeous and the beaches were incredible...................and a bonus.............after shark spotting at every beach we didnt see one dangerous creature! (oh but the river you sail up to reach rottnest is home to bull sharks!........but we only saw dolphins!)
well the following days included a visit to freemantle and Yangchap national park where we went in the crystal caves and saw our fist live kangaroos! (most of them are squashed on the road!) we even saw one with a joey moving around in its pouch! and we saw kaolas ...........except they were all asleep as usual!
we are now all heading up to coral bay for some sun, sand and diving! me and tiff are using the bus whilst mummy and breeze travel in style.......by plane!! we arrive on thursday so i will keep you informed!
take care, love the family!
