This early morning lark has got to stop!!! Up again at half two this morning to catch the train up to Cairns. Only one other passenger on the transfer coach who assumed that we had stayed up partying all night in order to catch the 0320 bus (didn't like to correct him, obviously we looked rough enough to pass it off as a possibility)
Train as ever full of screaming children (i like the little b*****s but even i can only hear the alphabet repeated incorrectly so many times, you can imagine how well Becky was coping). Trains are all older than me by a good 20 years but still in suprisingly good nick. Treated ( i use the word losely) ourselves to some train food - my burger has beetroot in it!!!!! Now i ask you is there any need for that, as if the lettuce isn't bad enough they ruin it further with beetroot, its just plain wrong!
When we finally roll into Cairns its not just hot its bloody hot (now for me to say that you get the jist of just how hot we are talking) and not only is it hot the humidity to about 75%. Basically this means that by the time we got to our accomodation (5 minute walk away my arse!!!!) we weren't just dripping, it looked like we had been in a shower fully clothed. Becky is just about still alive at this point. The guys at the desk obviously took pity on us as gave us an entire dorm to ourselves (6 sets of bunk beds and a private room with double and extra bed) either that or we really did smell that bad following our sweat drenched walk.
The beach house (no where near the beach might i add - there isn't a beach at Cairns as far as we can tell) is pleasant enough and above all else has the most amazing air con. We have just spent the past 3 hours lying in our underwear in a room cooled to a rather pleasant 22 degrees. Having just checked the weather for england, apparrently thats still warmer than it is for you guys (sorry about that). Any way off exploring now. Talk to you all soon. Love K and B x x x xx
