Hi All. Sorry I haven't updated my blog in a while. To be honest the reason for this is because I've not done a great deal since being in B.C!
I spent a few days last week chilling with Kay and Wil in Vancouver which was nice and relaxed as I was beginning to get tired of site seeing! Wil took me on a walking day around the city and we spotted a wild bald eagle (puts Red Kites to shame!). We also took a taxi boat across the river to Granville Island. This is a cool area with lots of studios and small shops selling all sorts of arts and crafts. There is also a big Farmer's Market and a brewery there. After we went to a park near where they live and got a great view over the city. I met a few of Kay and Wil's friends and we hung out with them a couple of times but other than that we didn't get up to much.
On Thursday I got a Greyhound to Whistler to finally meet up with Marc. It took 2 & 1/2 hours to drive and the sites from the coach were amazing. Wil gave a me a tip to sit on the left hand side on the way up and the right hand side on the way back. It worked as I got great views instead of looking at rocks!
Since being in Whistler Marc has had to work loads, so I haven't spent as much time with him as I would have liked. However he's making lots of money for our trip down the West coast of the USA and his housemates are very nice and have made me feel at home. Unfortunately I have only been boarding once so far as the lift passes are a lot of money and I've been waiting to get the chance to go up with Marc as he doesn't mind me holding him up! His housemate Alex got me free rental on a board and so I'm all geared up just waiting for the opportunity to get up there before the season is over.
Whistler looks a bit like a model village. The layout of the Village is apparently diliberately confusing so that the tourists end up getting lost and seeing the whole village rather than just some parts! It works, I've been here a week and still end up getting lost! It's very cute. Marc lives outside of the main village in Creekside. So we have to get a bus in or walking takes about 45mins to an hour. The walk is cool and it's a beautiful place. I can imagine it being fantastic in the summer with all the lakes surrounded by mountains.
The past few days we've had glorious sunshine and it's been very warm. So towards the end of April I might hire a bike and ride some of the trails here. Althought Whistler's snowboarding season is coming to and end, the mountain biking season is going to start soon so I should have something to do over the next few weeks.
Marc and I are going back down to Vancouver tomorrow to spend my birthday weekend there with Kay and Wil. (Yes...Marc managed to get the whole weekend off work, I'm impressed!) If the weather's nice we will go for a picnic in Stanley Park, however I think it might rain! But it's all good. I'm sure we will have fun no matter what and maybe we'll end up in the Brewery on Granville Island! :)
We will be back in Whistler on Easter Sunday and will be staying here for another couple of weeks before heading back down to Vancouver and then onto the US. I can't wait!!! Until then I will try to get lots of snaps of Whistler to upload on here. Happy Easter everyone!
