After our fantastic trip out to Zanzibar, we came back to the mainland and spent another night in Dar Es Salaam before heading up for Arusha. From Arusha, we made arrangements for our 3 day camping safari in the Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater. It was definitely worth the trip and the hefty price tag that was attached. It also made us even happier that we started our trip in South Africa and have been working our way up. In the parks we stopped at, and the activities we've done, the number of animals we've been able to see has steadily risen. As an example, when we were in the Okavango Delta down in Botswana, we had to trek through the jungle to get a glimpse of any animals, but still saw a fair bit. We even had to track an elephant for a few hours just to catch a glimpse of one. On our way to Chobe though, there were elephants all over the road. Both the Serengeti and the Ngorongoro crater are full of wildlife. There were seas of zebras wildebeest, hartebeest, etc by the thousands... even hundreds of thousands. We saw elephants, lions, rhinocerous, buffalo, leopards, zebra, giraffe, hyenas, cheetahs... to mention a few.
