I hiked around 8 miles today and am beat. To be completely honest I almost turned around since I felt like I was not cut out for this by myself. Considering the fact I have not worked out in months I literally felt exhausted this morning. However, I think there is a need for every human to encounter their fears and overcome them. Yes I am afraid to die solo in a desert, but I need to prove to myself it is just inside my head. I kept walking and am beat now. I am at twin tanks which is a natural water preserve (when it rains...) my tent could not be stuck into the ground since now I have made it back to the granite. A little sand made for a baggy tent that will have to do. I have seen at least three jackrabbits, among other wildlife. This only reminds me of how simple life should be. These animals were here long before I invaded and made it through, yet they r all terrified of me. So when I got to twin tanks I watched the sunset and saw a shooting star. I'm only reminded again of how small we are in a universe unexplained. The desert can play tricks with your head, but it can also trace you back to the way life should be. Amongst the hustle and red tape we are really just mammals like the rest of the world. Nothing makes us unique besides the fact we are on top of the food chain. However we chose to abuse that and look where we are now. Lost and can't find our way out of an economic turmoil amongst wars. Life should coexist with nature and bring us all back to our original existence. Only the desert can teach you that I believe.
