So, I have a lot to write. I believe I had just ended my time in Wanaka when I blogged last so here we go! After Wanaka Christina, Kay and I went to Fox Glacier. We stayed for two nights. The first day Kay and I walked to lake Matheson and did that walk. We didn't have a car of course so we had to walk to the walk. It turned out to be a lot farther than we expected. While we were at the lake we met this really cool Dutch family who offered us a ride back to town! They had been traveling in a camper for 7 months and were finishing off their last three in New Zealand! They had three boys between probably five and ten. When we were on the track they would run ahead and hide then jump out at us. It would scare us every time! The next day Kay and I walked to the glacier. By accident we took the wrong trail head and ended up at a lookout point instead of the actual glacier. Then we hiked back down and did the actual hike to the glacier. A longer day than we expected, but we're glade we did both. We were happy didn't do a guided tour. They were too expensive and we heard they weren't worth it. On the way back we caught a ride from these two ice climbers. One was from Texas! This entire time I've only met 5 Americans. We came back sat in the sauna then went to bed. We then took the bus to Hokitika. We were planning on doing a jewelry making class but they were quite expensive also and were going to take a week not a weekend. We only had two nights in the hostel and didn't really want to spend more time in Hokitika. The first day we all got a really bad sunburn on our face from falling asleep on the beach for two hours and the next day was terrible weather. It was good though because it gave us a planning day. Christias foot wasn't getting better so she decided she was going to go back to her host family in Blenum and Kay and I were going to hike the Abel Tazman track. The Abel Tazman is a four day trek that goes along the ridge line of the ocean in Nelson. You camp each night on the beach. We were roughing it with only uncooked food. I'm pretty tired of peanut butter and cheese! Sleeping in my tent with only one sleeping bag and no sleeping pad. We had some pretty great laughs! We then came back and stayed at a hostel called Paridiso. It's a big party but having a lot of fun! I meant to be here for two nights.......it's nearing a week! I've met some great musician friends and we've been busking a little which is fun! It's like free money because we'd be playing at the hostel anyways but instead we walk two blocks and get paid for it! We made 70$ in two hours outside the grocery store yesterday!
