Jambo!
I have arrived safe and sound in Kenya! After writing research papers about Kenya in my 10th grade Africa class and my Economic Development class during my senior year in college, it's hard to believe I'm finally in the country I've researched and dreamed so much about. We landed in Nairobi at 6:30 this morning and then were transferred to a temporary host family's house for the next couple of days. There are 4 other volunteers staying at the house, 3 from Canada and one from Norway. Tomorrow we begin our 2 days of orientation and then we will be taken to Ngong where we will be staying the rest of our time here in Kenya. It is a lot colder here than I anticipated, so I guess I shouldn't have packed 4 t-shirts. It feels like it's in the 60s right now. During our 9 hour layover in London yesterday, Steph and I took the train into the city and saw Big Ben, Buckingham Palace, the Tower Bridge and the Tower Castle. My time is running out now but I will be writing more later!
