Hi Everyone and Happy New Year :-)
We hope that you have had a great start to the New Year. We are mostly well now but I (Claire) got caught up in the H1N1epidemic sweeping across Canada, which made me very sick, and kept us behind on the blog (KJ has been looking after me)!
So, from Boston we headed to New York for Christmas. New York looks exactly like it is portrayed in all of the movies and TV shows. I did find myself expecting to see Carrie Bradshaw walk around the corner at any minute, but alas, this didn't happen (I should have learnt by now as Ally McBeal does not walk the streets of Boston, nor does Barack Obama roam around D.C.). Christmas was an interesting time to visit. There were plenty of decorations, amazing window displays,Christmas markets and ice rinks. Actual Christmas day wasn't very Christmassy though. Much of the city ran as though it was any other day, which took the shine off a bit (not a day for a man to be wearing a billboard asking you to buy Subway??) And IT DIDN'T SNOW though it snowed in New York State :-( Lucky we got spoiled at the place we had booked for dinner (Afiori's on 5th Ave) and got inspired by Walter Mitty at the movies and are now hoping to go to Iceland (all the movies come out on Christmas day and it is very common to see a movie). We did have some wonderful highlights... We got to see Russ and Sarah and went out to dinner at Eataly! This was one of the best nights of our trip so far. It made us so happy to see friends from home. Dinner was amazing, followed by the best Gelato.
We also visited the following sites: Brooklyn Bridge has a very special feel about it and the city looks very pretty from the bridge. We went up the Empire State Building which is definitely an iconic tourist attraction. We took the Staten Island Ferry and sailed passed the Statue of Liberty. We did another free walking tour which was both fascinating and freezing. During this time we visited Wall St, the Harbour and near where the towers used to stand xxxx
We will be returning to NYC to fly out to Europe. We will do a few more things then that were either closed or packed due to Chrissy. Speak soon, Claire and Kevin x

Windy Sounds like you continue to have a great time. I wouldn't worry too much on visiting Iceland. The burgers are not the best and the cheese is just terrible. (English humour.......look it up) Keep safe guys, glad Claire is on the mend x
