Hi Everyone.
We hope that you are all well. Thank you very much for all of your messages and comments. We really love reading them and are grateful to you for taking the time to say hi.
We are fairly well but are writing this update from La Paz where we landed at 4000mts (our hostel is at around 3200mts thank goodness) and we are a little short of breath! Apart from that, we are loving La Paz but that will get its own entry in a little while :-)
We really enjoyed Mendoza. The wine and meat is as good as they say and they even have a whole restaurant dedicated to every type of Milanesa (schnitzels) possible! (eg: parmigiana, mustard sauce, chili sauce etc etc). Our time was made even more special by meeting a bunch of Aussies that soon became good friends. We did a wine tour which was very scenic and very generous on their portions! The wine area is as beautiful as all of the places around the world, but it is bordered by the Andes which are truly magnificent. We also visited the thermal pools which looked like an oasis in the middle of rocky mountains. We had a couple of hiccups trying to work out the times of buses to get there and back but we had such good company that it didn't matter in the end (thanks to the lovely Aussies that we met). On Wednesday we set off on another bus ride, but this time to Santiago. We were excited as it was supposed to be around 7hrs. Unfortunately this doesn't include the time it takes to be processed at the border. It took 3.5hrs!!! of which 98% was spent sitting on the bus waiting for our turn! When we finally arrived, we were relieved to be greeted by a very nice taxi driver whom transformed into an evil taxi driver and took our money :-( He took the right amount and then made out that I had given him the completely wrong amount and demanded more. Luckily Kevin is much more frightening than me (maybe it is the copious amount of hair?) and when Kevin questioned him, he stopped trying to take anymore money and drove off. Shame on him I say. Luckily Santiago turned on a great free walking tour around the city and our hostel manager was a Dockers supporter, as I was a little dark about the place.
We left Santiago on Friday morning and flew to La Paz. We have been up around 1000mts on and off for a few weeks now so we hope to acclimatize soon. We have drunk so much coca tea that we seem to be sight seeing the toilets more than anything right now. We are booked to go to the Uyuni Salt Flats, the Alto markets, probably the witches market and a little bike tour down the death road.
Will post more about Bolivia soon xx

Windy Great blog this, I seem to learn something every time I tune in to read the next chapter. My dad always said the Andes was at the end of my armies. Seems he has been telling lies all these years. Sounds like you continue to have an amazing time. keep the updates coming. Keep safe guys. Windy
Laz Hey guys. Do you have a company for the death road and the salt flats? Make sure you visit casa Argentina steak restaurant.
