2nd-3rd July: -London Ramble
Hiya (love this saying)
Okay so I headed into town today with the thought of a little shopping, manicure and to do some sightseeing so when I got into Oxford Circus, all the roads were blocked off and could not for the life of me find the dam tourist bus which I knew hovered down around Oxford or Bond. So I just wandered, shopped and asked the Police why the roads were blocked off and was told “it’s a parade ma’am” roads will be blocked for 7 hours so I then proceed stupidly to ask how I get over the road and was again advised ma’am by underground. So those of you who have been to London WTF.... can you imagine thousands of people trying to cross via the underground along with people going down there and trying to get out and of course here in Britain summer does not mean air conditioning. Man I have to say the “parade” was equivalent to our Mardi Gra and I am happy to say we do it better, in fact can you imagine the security in this city, it is intense. Well then put a Mardi Gra on and there are helicopters, so many police I couldn’t believe it, truly an experience.
So not to be thrown off the track I headed back into the city the following day and found that elusive tourist bus and had a lovely morning sitting on the red double decker enjoying the rare sight called the sun then headed to Harrods. Well it has been ten years since I was last here in London and I have to say, loving it this time but Harrods is not what I remember it to be. It is starting to be run down however a new edition since my last visit is the Food Hall which has everything you could want from fresh food to Meat, Cheeses, Dips, Candy Land even an ice-cream parlour and various cafes throughout.
My claim to fame is that I saw Jo Frost at the perfumery bar and for those of you who don’t recognise that name she is the Super Nanny, love that show haha and of course it plays here early Saturday morning.
No signs of Jamie Oliver or Gordon Ramsay as yet haha though I have eaten in Gordon’s Gastro Pub in Limehouse, must say great fish and chips people!!!
Well I rounded off my day by hiring a bike and did a spin around Hyde Park which was awesome and definitely a place where Inner City Londoners head for a lay out in the sun or stroll or if you’re lucky a concert.
